My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a Midwesterner, but educated on the East Coast. I've spent inordinate amounts of time abroad, and I love traveling and learning about/experiencing other countries and cultures. I hate standing out. I'm no longer interested in galavanting around the world, but I still like a good trip. I love Paris, Morocco, Brazil, Beirut, and Kobe (best. beef. ever). I am fasting half the year, but generally love meat and dairy and probably could not be with a vegetarian or vegan. I don't understand people who eat simply to live. I am morally opposed to biking or other generally outdoorsy activities with the possible exception of brief hikes, camping in the desert, or safaris. I think people who enjoy running are genuinely insane, but I love sports. I think enjoying reading is the most telling indicator of intellectual intelligence, and I could never be with someone who couldn't have a real intellectual discussion. But straight-up intellectuals often miss the importance of compassion and generousity in life. An appreciation of art, dance, and music is essential to truly enjoying life. I think living in the suburbs would destroy my spirit. I discover truth through heated debate, but am laughing it off the next second. I smile always. I am extremely outgoing, but have major introverted moments as well. I am an only child. Like the kid in James Joyce's Araby, I love love. I thrive on human touch. I respect others, but am not impressed by position or status or wealth. I think idolizing money or materialism is one of the worst ways to live, but I like nice things. I am complicated.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have had it good, so I feel beholden to give back. Public service.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Laughing, smiling, listening, talking, debating, soccer (well, at least once upon a time), cooking, cuddling.
The first things people usually notice about me

My smile and (sometimes) how over the top/loud I can be. My warmth.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My faith, my family, my never-ending curiosity/desire to question everything, interesting human beings, others who believe in putting others before themselves, and access to music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
why we're here, how to prove that to others, and how to make the world a less dysfunctional place.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
with friends at a restaurant or bar, staying in and watching tv or a movie, reading, working, or traveling.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have high standards and fall way short.
