My self-summary Propose an edit
He's easy-going yet involved, intense and laid-back. A
contradiction wrapped in honesty. Directionless and motivated,
could the journey be its own reward? What looks like aimlessness
might just be an appreciation of the moment. Friendly and
open-minded, he likes to play hide and seek in open fields. A cold
appearance betrays a warm interior. He is continuously laughing,
even if the expression on his face is serious. Shrouded in
idealism, he hides under blankets wearing headphones that blast
covers of his favourite songs while he sneaks glimpses of raindrops
pattering against his window. Tomorrow will come again, he thinks,
and this time he'll seize it mercilessly and never let go.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
On a day to day basis, he is quietly effective for his employer,
even though he finds this part of his life... dull.
Secretly, he passionately scribbles and scrawls notes on paper; he
plans on creating and spreading propaganda that will change the
world profoundly, forever.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I've devised a list of things Simon is good at after years of
narrating his existence. Here are some random excerpts from that
list:
41. Finishing your sentences in a parallel world that... well...
that doesn't really exist.
64. Arrested Development trivia.
11. Appreciating the non-linear.
78. Making random noises in lieu of using commonly accepted words
to communicate with strangers and new acquaintances.
3. Giving and receiving hugs.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
Some appreciate his calm, intelligent, jovial disposition, others
find the lack of brand labels and trendy styles boring. Let it be
known that both of these relationships are usually symmetrical.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
He often talks to me about these things for hours.
Let's start with food, because its easy: he's vegetarian, and not picky about
the rest. You=Vegetarian/Vegan too? Let the bonus points be
showered upon your pretty head.
Books (or Authors): Paul Auster, Kurt Vonnegut, Jonathan Safran
Foer, some Douglas Coupland. Blindness by Jose
Saramago. A Confederacy of Dunces
by John Kennedy Toole. The best book ever written is House of Leaves by
Mark Z Danielewski.
Music: Buck 65
("Talking Honky Blues" is one of the best albums he's ever heard),
Devendra
Banhart, Astronautalis, Nick Drake, Kimya Dawson, Matthew Good, Jose Gonzalez, K'naan, Kings of Convenience,
DJ Signify,
Iron
& Wine, Bonnie "Prince" Billy,
Modest Mouse,
Ugly
Casanova, Neutral Milk Hotel (in fact,
he's completely re-obsessed with In The Aeroplane Over the
Sea at the moment), The Decemberists, Blockhead, Elliott Smith,
Flight
of the Conchords, Sigur Ros, múm, Regina Spektor... check out his last.fm profile
here..
Movies: Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep,
Fight Club,
Magnolia,
Half Nelson,
Punch-Drunk
Love, Lost in Translation,
Lars & The Real
Girl, etc...
Oh, and it might not be a category, but here goes anyways. He
doesn't watch much TV, but is nonetheless addicted to Arrested
Development, Trailer Park Boys and
South Park.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
The a, n, and space bar keys on his keyboard
that sometimes get stuck and don't always function properly.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Writing? Reading? Watching a movie, hanging out with friends, maybe
at a pub or bar somewhere? Lately, he's even been found busting a
move or two and enjoying it (which is definitely a change of pace
from any past attempts at said busting).
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
Ugh.
You should message me if Propose an edit
He says you should message him if: You question things, not
accepting them at face value. You're a contradiction. You'd like to
run away to the Yukon and never come back. Hot and humid
summers make you irritable. Autumn is your favourite season. You
hate bees. You don't care for any of what I've written and would
care to let him know. You love Paul Auster novels. You're tired of
reading this. You've read House of Leaves.
The world is about to end and you need a friend to confide
in.
Or, failing all that, you should message him if you feel like
it.
Thank you for reading.
