Books: Polonius: "What do you read, my lord?" Hamlet: "Words,
words, words". My all time favourite is 1984 by George Orwell. I've
read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk, Michel Houellebecq, Charles Bukowski
and J.M. Coetzee lately but don't hold it against me and don't ask
me to pronounce their surnames. I've also been reading Cormac
McCarthy and I can pronounce that so I guess I'd have led with that
if you were asking me in person.
Music: Frank Zappa once said "writing about music is like dancing
about architecture". So I won't try to describe them, but my tastes
are eclectic - I like good music of almost any genre - and I often
go to concerts.
Movies: I prefer plot to an enormous special effects budget.
Favourites include Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Annie Hall, A Clockwork Orange, Lost in
Translation, There Will Be Blood, Delicatessen, Dead Man, The
Apartment. And Pink Flamingos made me feel physically ill and yet I
really want to see it again?!
Food: I'm vegan and like most things that didn't come out of an
Art (I'm unilaterally adding this category): Goya, Courbet,
Schiele, Soutine, Beckmann, Debuffet, Bacon, Freud, Twombly,
People (Yep this too): Charlie Brooker, John Waters, Louis Theroux,
Rowland S Howard, Marieke Hardy, John Safran, Sarah Silverman,
