I am passionate about life, happy even when times are hard, and sing as often as possible. My favorite activities are helping others, having great conversations, creating art, listening to music, and meeting new people.

I love intellectual activities, like reading, writing, and learning new things, but I also love to get out and dance, go on hikes, play music at open mics, find a great new restaurant, or just spontaneously go somewhere for the day and have an adventure.

I also really enjoy theater--one of my favorite things every year is my trip to Ashland, Oregon for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. In high school and college I acted, did theater tech (sound, lights, sets), and directed plays. My best friend and I wrote and put on our own musical, which was really fun.

I am absolutely fascinated by other people, and I would love to meet wonderful new friends who I really enjoy spending time with.

I'm the primary developer of a relatively popular piece of software, and I also have a full-time day job at a famous software company. I love what I do and I love where I work.

I also do a lot of other other things, some of which may involve singing, dancing, or other forms of performing, and I love those too.

Singing. I've been doing it pretty much constantly since I was four years old. I also write songs and play the guitar, and all combined, that's one of my major passions in life. I'd love to find some people to play music with, if you're interested!

I also love to communicate. I enjoy having great conversations with people about our thoughts, passions, or lives.

Music: I love singer/songwriter stuff, folk, punk, top 40, alternative, house, trance, ambient, trip-hop, oldies, classical, funk, gospel, soul, hip-hop, swing, Broadway, ska, emo, jam music, country, and some other stuff too. :-) If you're interested in specifics, you can look at my last.fm profile, which lists everything I've been listening to lately and what I listen to the most.

Food: Thai food, tapas, sushi, Arabic, Greek, French, Italian, American, and also...pretty much every other kind of food in the world.

People are so much more capable than they believe themselves to be. Most people are held back more by what they think of themselves than by anything else.

I also think a lot about the reduction of ideas to simplicity. What's the most basic concept behind this thing that I'm looking at or thinking about? What's the simplest path forward for improvement in some area? What's the underlying truth in the field I'm studying?

Well, I'd like to meet people who I love talking to, really admire, and have a great time with. Being creative and passionate about something is a big plus, and so are intelligence, kindness, and integrity.

However, I'm open to any sort of communication. I would love to read anything you have to write, and if it's friendly and well-written, I would love to respond.
