I'm looking for a fun dating relationship that could possibly develop into something more. I am a down-to-earth, honest person who is easy to get along with. I am an engineer, by training and temperament, so I'm intelligent, logical, straightforward and like to solve problems. I'm also what you might not expect from an engineer: passionate, funny, and affectionate. I'm kind and considerate. I enjoy helping people, spending time with children and writing short declarative sentences. I am naturally cheerful and optimistic, have a good sense of humor and laugh easily.

I retired from high tech in 2000 after a 20-year career in software engineering management. Now I have a part-time "retirement job" that I do mostly at home. I also sing, do volunteer work, play duplicate bridge, attend a pool aerobics class, and do English Country Dancing. I like to sing jazz standards and blues, and do so whenever the opportunity arises. I also sing Early and Baroque choral music with a local chamber choir. I love to travel, both domestically and abroad. My favorite trips are those that give me a chance to see how people live their daily lives in other cultures.

I'm a big fan of Craig Ferguson on the Late, Late Show. I'm also a big fan of Stephen Sondheim and all his musicals, especially "A Little Night Music". It's hard to choose one favorite movie or book. I love "Shakespeare in Love" and "Independence Day". I like to read historical fiction. I didn't pay much attention to history growing up and now I get all my history through novels. I find as I grow older, I'm much more interested in world history than I used to be.

One of my favorite things to do is to engage in interesting conversations, maybe over dinner, maybe during a walk through downtown. Recently I started taking ballroom dance lessons. I like to go to the theatre, movies, and concerts. I enjoy nearly all kinds of music performed live, with the possible exception of rap and hiphop. I also like to walk in beautiful places and do English country dancing.
