My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
*I may have overdone online dating while in NY. I'm back in Oxford come January, but not really on here much at the moment so haven't updated my profile yet...*

I moved from Oxford to New York in October 2012. I think I've figured out the basics of New York now, I haven't locked myself in any more basements recently, and I finally understand why SBS bus drivers get angry when I wave my metro card at them...

However I still use random English expressions that no one understands... and I have no intention of changing this.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Science of the biochemical and biomedical variety. Writing. Photography when I have spare wandering time. Other projects of varying credibility... (most of which are at the "Oh I should totally work on this... after I've had a nap" development stage)

Here is an example of a project I started before I got distracted napping:
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Setting myself overly ambitious goals and almost achieving them.

(Or giving up when I think of something better to do)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Never actually asked anyone this...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Three joint favourite TV shows of all time:
Six feet under, The Sopranos, The Wire
Currently addicted to:
Louie, GOT, mad men, others

Films: Monster's Ball, The Constant Gardener, anything by the Coen Bro's, anything by Herzog, In Bruges... other films

Books: Infinite Jest is a recent favourite. I was also heavily influenced by Terry Pratchett as a teenager. I only discovered a passion for chin scratching literature in the last few years, so I am always keen to hear book suggestions!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I have yet to think of anything to write here that makes me sound witty and/or interesting...

However I am heavily reliant on many first world comforts just to maintain a neutral emotional state. (Especially the internet)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Screen play ideas. Ways to make large amounts of money by both ethical and less ethical means. How I would save the world from complex problems... WITH SCIENCE. How awesome it would be to have super powers. What the hell am I actually doing with this on-line dating thing. How much I need a cup of tea right now.

What to say to you based your attractive profile that will stand out and inspire a response but wont take me forever to write... Fuck it I'll just give you some stars and figure it out later.

Maybe I should make a dating video, it probably couldn't beat this though:
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Foiling everyone else's plots to take over the world...
Someone's got to do it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
On the advice of my lawyer I'm invoking my 5th amendment rights at this time.

(Do British citizens actually get 5th amendment rights? My lawyer in this case may be a small plastic statue of the queen, who's advice I interpret based on the speed of her royal waving...)

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're bored of clicking through profiles and want to take a stab at that human connection you signed up for in the first place...

You can tolerate lost Englishmen who use their nationality to cover occasional social/dating incompetence...

I think online dating is fun but weird, for me genuine 'crushes' can take a little while to develop. Sometimes it might seem like I'm trying to befriend you rather than and seduce you, but I'm probably trying to do both, and just being English about it. (I also suck at complimenting people, like I said, English)
