My self-summary
ADD friendly list for the internet addict in you;
Things that make my pupils dilate, heart-rate quicken, dopamine levels rise, all that good stuff:
Alan Watts as my religion, David Cain as a current favorite essayist, Dan Gilbert and Daniel Kahneman as my favorite happiness psychology researchers, hypem (music discovering), a sense of humor, biking, gchat, bread with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, dancing anywhere anytime (this dancer makes me want to do nothing but dance, ever again), lakes (the ocean, really all bodies of water...mostly large ones), learning languages, meeting new people, music festivals, radiolab, reddit, running.
What I’m doing with my life
Moved here from the midwest at the end of September and am working at Keio's Clinical Research Center (doing statsy stuff for public health) for at least the next three years.

Because why not?

Aside from that boring stuff, I'm currently in an international dance battle with my sister in MN and a friend of ours in China.
I’m really good at
Chopsticks. JK, I'm terrible. I know false flattery when I see it.
Making fantastic music playlists.
Listening with Sincerity.
Having Perspective.
Dancing like a fool.
Keeping in touch.
Losing things.
Empathy.
Teasing.
Making imbalanced (yet annoyingly almost balanced) lists of things that I'm really good at to fuck with your brain's desire for patterns.
The first things people usually notice about me
I never had an answer to this, but I suppose it might be my smile. I was recently asked to go out for coffee by a stranger on a bike because he was so *enchanted* by my smile...
I accepted, and it was nice, but he stared slightly too long and complimented me a little too much.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
MUSIC: Alt-J, Amadou & Mariam, Bonobo, The Books, C2C, Chiddy Bang, Cults, Childish Gambino, Electric Guest, Gold Panda, The Knocks, Lily Allen, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Nujabes, Odesza(!), Phoenix, Pogo, Ratatat, The Roots, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Scissor Sisters, Tune-Yards, Two Door Cinema Club, Vacationer, The XX, Wax Tailor, Wye Oak, Yelle

Holy crap, this song. And this one is a recent favorite from a music group that makes me pretty happy. I like music a lot. It pained me to narrow it this much.

Movies: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Fall, Life is Beautiful, Life in a Day, Fight Club, Amélie, Y Tu Mamá También, American Beauty, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Shutter Island, Teeth

Books:
Currently Reading: The Origin of Consciousness in the Bicameral Mind (second attempt. The first ended in too many overdue notices from the library.), Predictably Irrational.
Life of Pi, Kite Runner, Born to Run, A Primate's Memoir, Cloud Atlas, Catcher in the Rye, Good without God, The Doors of Perception, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Jorge Luis Borges, Lolita

Food: Dolphin heart. Sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, kalamata olives. Wine. Thai, Indian.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
Exercise, Dance, Music, Good food, Curiosity (both Intellectual and Experiential), the Sun
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What you're thinking about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Ideally: dancing, exploring new live music venues, art galleries, running followed by beer with hashers, waxing philosophical with new friends here. Biking once I get one here.
Edit: Got one. Going on a group night ride with fm radios tomorrow night. Join me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm actually a mid-40s Salaryman, who steals photos from facebook pages and pays my gaijin secretary to write my profile. Hope you don't mind much.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 22–32
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
-You don't take life all that seriously, but you don't live by default either.
-You don't shy away from change, and challenge.
-You have your own life, but you make time for those important to you.
-You understand why Japanese people don't put soap in their bathrooms, (yet wear face masks and use wet towels on their hands for every meal) and are not offended by my asking.
Or why no one walks on escalators here.
-You'd regret not doing so.

It's important for me to be friends first lovers second, if you aren't afraid of that, you should message me.
This doesn't necessarily mean I want to go slow, but I need to feel a psychological connection for things to progress.
That could happen in 30 seconds; that could happen after a few dates, who knows.
