I appreciate all kinds of new cultural experiences, both low-brow and high-brow. I am not a very high-energy person, but I am not really a homebody either. I like making friends with people who've had life experiences different from my own.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and that is where I have returned, after having spent nearly 6 years in China, working and studying. I am a warm person, but it takes awhile for me to open up to others. I have a deep inner life that is sometimes hard to translate. I am artistic, love reading and writing. I also am into China and Chinese language.

I consider myself very open-minded and enjoy getting to know people of all ages, and from different cultures, countries, etc. Being an introvert I usually feel somewhat uncomfortable in social settings with lots of people, but I like getting to know people one-on-one. One of my favorite things to do is to sit in a coffeeshop, and if I am alone, observe the people around me, or if I am with a friend, have a great conversation. (I love coffee, also.)

I am kind, irreverent, and curious

I'm always searching for the ideal occupation...this would involve something creative, using Chinese language, and interacting with people (but not too many people). I am excited to be going back to China for the summer to work with a language exchange program. After that, it's back to Philly....maybe for grad school, and maybe to find another job.

I hope to meet more people and start to take advantage of performing arts, galleries, theaters, book-readings, etc.

I love reading. I like books about different countries/cultures, biographies, and short stories. There are too many to remember! One of my favorite authors is Alice Munro. Sadly I am not that up-to-date on my reading as of late.

I like all kinds of music, depending on my mood. I'm not a music snob. i especially like soulful, emotional music by female singers (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, stuff like that; plus of course the original jazz/soul stuff like Billie, Ella, etc.)

I like sushi and chocolate. I also like peppermint tea and avocados.

I love going to movie theaters- the darkness, the entire sensory experience- but I wouldn't call myself a movie buff. In fact, you'd probably be surprised at how many popular movies I haven't seen (partially due to not living in the States for awhile).

usually doing something quiet...but it doesn't necessarily have to be so. however...if I am working full-time I am usually pretty tired on Friday nights, and ready to relax. If I go out, that will happen on a Saturday:).
