My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm usually the quiet guy. Tall and reserved. I've been told by different people that I either don't smile enough or smile a lot. I love to smile. I love to laugh. I love to make others laugh. I believe in being irreverent and taking life less seriously than most people. I guess it's the budding hedonist in me. After all, if we can't all have a little fun, what's the point? That said, I also believe in having fun without needing chemicals to do so. I'm quite alcohol and drug-free. It's much more fun to make fun of the impaired people than to be the impaired person.

Sometimes I'm silly or foolish, other times I'm grounded and thoughtful, but there's always a touch of kindness in everything I do. I grew up on fairytales, and that has taught me to be a bit of a romantic. I'm a capable, independent person: I cook, clean, and even do my own laundry. I can often be found reading, listening to music, or playing games on or off the computer. I'm close to my family and friends and like to spend time with them whenever I can. I'm very much an animal lover and have two handicap cats of my own, and am looking for a girl who is the same.

I am tall, touching, and touched
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work a regular 9-to-5 which has been steady for 6 years now. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's boring, but I really do like being there.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time on my own with Netflix, cats, books, TV during the seasons, and playing games. I like to get out to the movies a couple times a month, even if it's on my own. Just gives me something to do or see that's new. I spend time with my parents or family where and when I can. I absolutely adore my three nephews. I do like to geek it out at times. It can't be helped. It's in my blood.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm good at listening. I know it's corny to say, but for some reason, people like to talk around me and I love to listen to them. I'm also good at getting people to laugh, even in spite of themselves. I always hate to see people down and am not afraid to put my foot in my mouth for a good laugh. I'm not bad as a conversationalist, either, knowing a little bit of almost everything.

I'm also relatively good at giving massages, in an untrained, amateur way. Physical contact has always been a thing I enjoy and people seem to enjoy it when I give them neck and shoulder rubs or even full back-massages. I just have that combination of good touch reflexes that let me react to subtle clues.

I'm also surprisingly logical (when I put my mind to it), good at puzzles, as well as have an innate knack for picking up odd bits of lore. I'm amazed at the little bits of useless trivia that I seem to know.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Lets face it, when you're six foot nine inches tall, there're some things that people immediately notice about you first. That tends to be my height. Aside from that, I can't honestly say what they might notice. Whether it's my smile, my laughter, or the way I can always seem to bring a smile to the people around me, I like to keep things lively.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
As I'm a bibliophile, trying to state my favorite books would be like trying to choose between cuddly kittens. I will throw a few names out there that I tend to read or re-read: Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card, The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams, The Farseer Trilogy and its sequel, The Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb, The Black Company by Glen Cook, and The Princess Bride by William Goldman. I also need to include Neil Gaiman, Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft and many others. Just ask me about other contemporary or past fantasy authors.

Movies are Dramas, hands down, followed as Sci-Fi, (respectable) Fantasy, or Action flicks. Though I do have other favorites, and the current few include: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Star Trek (2009), Serenity, Man on Fire, Million Dollar Baby, The Princess Bride, Dead Poets Society, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon, The Shawshenk Redemption, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Gran Torino, Serenity and Firefly.

Television starts with my usual weekly watch schedule: House, Lie to Me, Haven, Fringe, Glee, Castle, and moves on to others, like Eureka, Firefly, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Big Bang Theory, Star Trek.

As for music, I'm hugely into Celtic/New Age music and Classical, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Bare Naked Ladies, Evanescense, Peter Gabriel, The Beatles, Tool, The Foo Fighters and many, many others. Just don't give me rap.

Food.. well, I'm definitely carnivorous. I like good cuts of beef, hams, chicken, turkey, I even enjoy my vegetables. Of course, everyone needs an indulgence or two, and mine are cinnamon buns (no raisins please) and Entenmann's Ultimate Crumb Cake.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books. Ask anyone around me and if I didn't have a book, I'd probably wilt a little.

Next on the list is music. It helps me unwind, relax and just lose myself.

Third is definitely my friends and family. Yes, I know they aren't things. But I couldn't do without them. I also count physical contact and intimacy in this.

Fourth are games. I love the feel of being able to compete in a friendly manner and a feel of escapism is always good to help me unwind and be myself.

Fifth? Now we start to get difficult. I'm a simple man with simple needs so this would have to be a little solitude now and again. I need a chance to become me again.

The last (and least) think I could never do without is my big, comfy bed. It took me a long time before I could get myself a bed I fit in (relatively speaking). I'm not very eager to do without. And remember, it's not just a recreational toy!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything; whatever seems to come to mind. A lot of time I spend thinking about friends, books, stories, games or girls. Usually I have two or three things going on at once. Makes it very easy to lose a train of thought and makes those times very interesting when I jump tracks onto something totally unrelated. Interestingly enough, I've learned a long time ago to separate my working life from the rest of it. With few exceptions, my work stays there and I don't bring it up at home. I find that it's an important part of maintaining my sanity.

One of my favorite quotes:
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
On a typical Friday night I have a standing invite to go to my parents and have a game night. Typically we're playing perquackie, Big Boggle, Farkel, and Bananagrams.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The most private thing is.... well, you'll have to ask me. I'm the type of guy who answers just about any question. Just make sure that you're willing to hear that answer first.

Nah. The truth is I talk a good deal about pessimism but deep down, I'm a closet optimist.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like life when it comes at you sideways; that you're fascinated not with where you're going, but the journey to get there. You like tall guys with a sense of humor and don't take life too seriously.

I'm very much laid back with a strong spontaneous side. I'm not much for lots of drama, but I'm always out for a few laughs and a good time. I don't sweat the small things, life's too short.
