My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm lucky in that I love what I do. When I'm not working as a government secret agent I play in a cover band that does cheesy songs from the 70's, 80's 90's and 00's, and for some reason we especially excel at Doobie Brothers Songs. Why, I have no idea. Maybe we're Doobies savants. If you have a bar mitzvah or a corporate event coming up, let me know. :)
I'm joking about the government secret agent job, but not the band thing. But it is true that I love my day job which is never the same two days in a row.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to enjoy the ride.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing rhythm guitar and singing back-up. I'm mediocre at harmonica, but I keep trying. I'm good at diffusing difficult situations, and smoothing ruffled feathers. I'm a pretty darn good cook (my mom had a catering biz and taught cooking classes and she taught me everything I know). I can even whip up a souffle.
Being a friend. Not too good at bikram yoga, but I figure showing up is half the battle on this one.
The first things people usually notice about me

Gone girl, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Tales of the City, Nickel and Dimed, The Tipping Point, Animal Vegetable Miracle. Recently enjoyed The Run of His Life : The People versus O. J. Simpson (it was so long ago now, but interesting to read about it with all these years of hindsight). Cooks Illustrated.
Any music with guitars (acoustic or electric) and harmonies. Classic rock. Fleetwood Mac to Fitz and the Tantrums. Beatles to the Black Crowes. Avett Bros. to Allman Bros.
Food: anything but liver. yuck. I love a good burrito, or a nice piece of fancy cheese on a fresh baguette. I do have an aversion to fresh tomatoes (more for you).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My dog (she makes me a better person)
My friends
My laptop
My fingers
American Idol
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I don't really think about this all that much. But I saw on a guy's profile that he claimed to be a mensch. Then I thought, "Wait, if you call yourself a mensch, does that automatically make you not a mensch?" I consulted some friends, and the answer was generally yes. As one friend put it, "Mensches do not engage in self-promotion." The moral of the story: aspire to be a mensch - just don't mensch-ion it. :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out for a drink with friends, watching a movie (at home or at the theater), seeing a band, cooking dinner (or ordering dinner if I'm pooped). If I'm not pooped, going to a bikram yoga class and trying not to pass out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes when I get the Sunday paper, I only read the junky parts.
