My self-summary
I’m warm and friendly and definitely an introvert. I’m an engineer in many ways, but I also love people’s stories and listen carefully to them. I like rocking out in a dress, and wish I could pull off a slightly-boyish pixie cut and button-down shirt (the haircut doesn’t quite work).
What I’m doing with my life
Getting outside whenever I can. I don’t even realize how much I miss it until I’m back in a campground and something in me settles back into place. I’d take mountains and lakes over the ocean, but really, they’re all good.

Sometimes I spend lots of time with my journal, deep in the details of whatever is going on right now. Other times I realize that I’ve been changing without quite knowing it, in ways I like, and it’s a good feeling.

My job has never felt like the answer to what I'm doing with my life in a long-term, "what is my vocation" sense, but I like it very much right now.
I’m really good at
Organizing things: travel, outdoor adventures, projects, my room. Baking healthy versions of cookies and banana bread that actually taste good.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told I have a terrific smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food: Leafy greens, especially Tuscan kale. The best dessert I've ever had was a blackberry and nectarine crisp, when I was living in a Berkeley house where wild blackberries grew in the driveway. Other colorful produce. Stovetop popcorn with salt and pepper and smoked paprika. Coffee Oreo ice cream.

Music: Girlyman, Indigo Girls, some Dar Williams, Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer.

Movies: Up, Juno, How To Train Your Dragon (can you tell I don't watch many movies?)

Shows: long ago, Wonder Years and Party of Five; then I went off to college and stopped watching TV and never found my way back.

Books: one of my housemates is a children's/YA librarian, and I read whatever she tells me to. The books that are closest to my heart are all YA books (A Ring of Endless Light and A Solitary Blue, in particular). The Curse of the Good Girl was eye-opening even as an adult (it mostly discusses teenage girls, but wow, many women could learn from it too). Human Wishes, by Robert Hass.
The six things I could never do without
Sunshine, swimming, coffeeshop journaling time, good conversation, being known and understood, laughter.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Setting up fun goals for myself (this might involve actually making a sticker chart). Religious belief and practice, and trying to find a church that feels like home.
On a typical Friday night I am
Enjoying low-key hangout time with a friend or two, swimming after work, or baking cookies and chatting with whichever housemates are around. Or just wandering through the internet or reading a book, unwinding after the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a mixed reaction to profiles that include "I'm looking for someone who has their act together", or something along those lines. I like being happy and competent in my life, and most of the time I am those things. But life also includes the dark and uncertain times, and being able to walk through those with close friends (or a partner) is important to me. I realize I'm combining two somewhat different things here, but this still feels worth saying.

  • Guys and girls who like bi girls
  • Ages 27–39
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you are generally positive, including about yourself.
you sometimes look at the world around you with wonder and delight.
you'd like to have a conversation or two, and see how things might unfold from there.
