geeky, a Burner, and love hugs
My self-summary Propose an edit
Update: I went to Burning Man this year for the first
time! Totally awesome, and actually not as hot as I feared. Had a
blast, definitely going again next year. Already starting to
plan!
I'm a geek who loves
the outdoors, especially hiking, bicycling, surfing & camping. I also like lifting weights, working
on my tan (which is
much harder here in NorCal!), and showing movies for my dorm.
I'm very physical: I like hugging and cuddling a lot. It's just in my nature.
It's also why I enjoy giving & getting massages so much.
I am a huge fan of House music and Techno, as well as jazz, bluegrass, and old school rap! I grew up
listening to The Beach Boys, Huey Lewis, and laughing to Bill
Cosby.
OkC claims I'm more introverted; I'm pretty good at coming out of
my shell when I want to. (And if you just thought of the Ninja
Turtles, you just got a bonus point!)
I'm an avid programmer and I love to read (especially sci-fi). I'll take just
about anything apart. [Whether I can put it back together is
another story. Though I'm decently good at that, thank you Boy
Scouts!]
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Attending Stanford, working on a Master's degree in
Computer
Science, specializing in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Did my undergrad at UC
Irvine.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Debugging,
listening
(especially if you tell me a good story), and massage. (While I was at UCI, I
helped to teach a regular massage course).
I like telling stories, and really like hearing them. I think that
one of the best ways to get to know someone is to tell each other
stories from your life. One story I love telling is about how my
mom once made me a drum (out of an oatmeal container!) and I
decided to make one for my sister... Ask me about it in person, and
I'll tell you the rest!
I pun incessantly. And I really do mean incessantly. (One of my
friends once wrote a warning for me: "Incorrigible punster.
Warning: Do Not Incorrige.")
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
Apparently, I'm taller than I look like in my photos.
Also, no one believes I'm a Computer Scientist... until I start
cracking puns! Then they roll their eyes and start laughing. (Or
they run screaming for the hills. Frankly, I like both reactions!)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Music: For me, "good" music generally means happy, because I
tend to pick up the mood of the music I listen to. Which is why I
don't like a lot of metal, modern rap, R&B, and punk. At least
what I've heard of them is too angry or too sad. House & Techno: Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, St. Germain, Mark Farina, Lemon Jelly. Old school rap.
Jazz. Some classic rock.
Beach Boys.
Huey Lewis & the
News.
Books: Dune.
Ender's
Game. Anything by Spider Robinson, William C.
Dietz, Isaac
Asimov, Robert Heinlein, or Ben Bova.
Movies: The Incredibles, Robots, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Lilo and Stitch, WALL-E,
Aladdin (yeah, I
love Disney,
especially Pixar),
Ocean's
Eleven, Star
Wars. Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles, Love Actually, Oscar, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles (in fact, most
of Mel Brooks' movies).
Food: Pizza, Italian, Chinese, pizza, hamburgers, root beer,
pizza. Did I mention I like pizza? And that I watched the Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was little? (I bet you can guess
who was my favorite turtle, too.)
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Learning, my family and my friends. Good music. Good Food. My
Rainbow Sandals (I used to live near one of their factories, so
they're way cheaper).
Yes, I'm a geek, but I could live without computers if I had to. I
just very much like living with them!
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Where to find a good pizza. If you can tell me that, you might just
win a free massage! ;)
You should message me if Propose an edit
You listen to techno, house, jazz, or bluegrass. You like being outdoors and being
fit.
I'm not really interested in emailing or IMing unless you're
potentially interested in meeting offline. (Nothing wrong with
far-away penpals, I'm just not looking for any.)
Oh, and if you know where this quote is from, you'll get triple
bonus points: "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased—thus
do we refute entropy."
