My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was born in Nebraska and raised in Iowa, which means that I'll always call soda "pop." Don't try to change me, baby.

I work as a closed captioner in Burbank - it's fun work and a great 9-to-5. Gives me time to focus on writing, which is my real passion (it's why I moved to LA, won some awards). I play drums in a rock band called Brother Sam [ed. - The band died in July, but its spirit lives on, shiny and chrome.]

I bake the hell out of a pie: apple, blueberry/strawberry, lemon meringue, pumpkin. Cookies too. Enjoy finding 2-3 hour hikes around the Valley. Not big on sports, but I can enjoy a game if someone tells me who to root for.

On the lookout for a fellow nerd who's funny and pretty.

Pretty much what I said above.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, playing drums, overthinking things, baking, finding inner peace by looking at the night sky.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My height, my sense of humor, my kindness, my flawless sense of rhythm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Slaughterhouse Five, The Razor's Edge, The Stand, Paradise Lost, Lord of the Flies, Childhood's End, anything Jack London, Calvin and Hobbes (that counts, right?)

Rear Window, Goodfellas, Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight, Dawn of the Dead, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, any and every Coen Brothers movie, any and every Billy Wilder movie - I've historically loved scary movies, but that's waned a bit in the past couple years.

Arrested Development, The Wire, The X-Files, Breaking Bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Carnivale, True Detective, Community, Parks and Recreation

TV on the Radio, Nine Inch Nails, The Who, Sam Cooke, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire, Awolnation, Vampire Weekend, Fitz and the Tantrums (their first album), Motown and classical

Italian, Chinese, Sunday breakfasts, pie > cake
The six things I could never do without

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Grabbing a drink with friends, staying in with a movie, or writing late at the coffee shop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Agent Dana Scully from "The X-Files" is my hero.
