My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am shy.

Currently I teach American Government to high school seniors. Last year was the best year of my career thus far.

I have a sarcastic sense of humor. My students continually tell me I am dry. I tell them “as dry as the Atacama.” They usually follow that up with an accusation that I am lame. I stand up and walk around the room just to prove them wrong.

I was once a pretty competitive runner. I am now a much less competitive runner but share my experiences as a high school cross country coach.

I live for the competition of team trivia. Currently I play regularly with two different groups of coworkers.

I believe I embody those qualities everyone is right to seek in another. You know the ones that make profiles sound like a commercial for a network news team. I am dedicated, determined, and dependable.

I am a Myers-Briggs INTJ. Recently I took two more online and both came back INTP. Maybe I am becoming more flexible.

What I am looking for:

I want that As Good as It Gets moment when I find that one woman who “makes me want to be a better man.”

She will be intelligent, and strong, but still kind and empathetic. Do you both smile and feel heartbroken for the child who comes rushing in from the playground soaking wet from the start of a torrential rain?

She will be a woman of faith.

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Updated 6/13

We hit a bit of a tough patch in team trivia but are batting .500 over the last few weeks. We have also recently changed one of the locations where we play trivia because we got tired of competing against Google. I can not abide cheating.

Just returned from touring six New England states and a day in NYC.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
People who are around me for even a short period of time will pick up on the fact that I am pretty book smart and like to look at things from different perspectives to see where things can go wrong, and solve those problems before they do.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If someone was being honest about it, they would say they first noticed the scarring from were I was burned before I was three years old. It was an accidental home fire.

I'd rather they notice my super awesome hazel eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I am addicted to The Big Bang Theory and am up to date on 24, Orphan Black, and Vikings. Looking forward to the return of Doctor Who have a few episodes of The Americans to catch up on.

I am a binge movie watcher. I will watch a lot of movies in a short period of time and then go cold turkey. I am not a fan of horror movies. Movies I enjoy and have watched many times include Down with Love, The Hunt for Red October, The Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Gandhi, Star Wars, Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail, The Shawshank Redemption, and Clue.

My favorite book is Once a Runner and am working on Again to Carthage right now. The first book I fell in love with was The Martian Chronicles. Almost everything I read today is nonfiction.

I am a total music moron. I do not remember lyrics, titles, or artists. I am not a fan of heavy metal or rap. It is important that I be able to decipher the lyrics in order to enjoy them. I have pop 40 and country stations programmed into the car radio. My Pandora mix includes stations featuring the Beatles, Adele, Reba, big bands, and Broadway. More likely you would find me listening to NPR (kinda enjoying RadioLab of late), news, or talk while driving.

Italian tops my list of foods. I love pasta and have a default setting for chicken fettuccine with alfredo sauce. Simple Americana is good with me as well. I have enjoyed every Thai dish I have ever had. Of course I am good with Chinese and Mexican meals as well. I am no foodie. In fact, I am completely content with a well constructed sandwich.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Oxygen, fresh water, calories and the basic nutrients necessary for sustaining life. I am not so inflexible that I could not learn to survive without some convenience.

1. My watch - I feel naked without out it.
2. News
3. Calendar
4. Trivia
5. Coaching kids
6. Gum
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Lately I have spent a lot of time thinking about what to write in empty boxes.

I'm always thinking about work and what we are going to do in class.

When other people are alone with their thoughts, are they experiencing them as an internal monologue, dialog, or series of images?

Today I've been thinking about whether or not people remember the day they stopped looking at puffy clouds and seeing animals in their shapes.

Yesterday someone's profile inspired me to start thinking about what the chapters of my autobiography would be titled if I wrote one. It is kind of an interesting exercise in personal reflection.

This one got me thinking recently. "What would you do today if you knew you could not fail?"

The surprising number of people on OKC who have identified as Christian and then answer the question "Do you believe in God?" with a"no."
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was infatuated with Emily Deschanel back when I discovered the show “Bones.” I watched 5 seasons of episodes in 2 weeks to catch up.
