While I love my 21st century technology, I think of myself as an 18th century man. I'm as comfortable pounding on the keys of my Mac as I am carrying a 300 magnum across the Alaskan tundra stalking a moose. A lover of nature, I fish and hunt not for sport but as protest to the agricultural/industrial complex. Gardening, gathering, mushrooming and spending as much time on the ocean as I can are a way of life.

I am highly educated academically but have learned a lot more through a lifetime of reading and experience. I lead my life according to what I've learned. My interests are many and diverse. I do yoga poorly, hike, bicycle, kayak, pump iron and spend much time attempting to formulate equations that describe everyday geophysical observations. For example, Why do some clouds appear to be moving in opposite directions.

I am far left politically and very active socially. I've led an incredible and generous life and hope to give back at least a little to those who have not been as fortunate.

I am a partner in a 35 year long-term relationship with slidingportals1. We are a committed couple, deeply in love. We share most activities and social values, one of them being the belief that sometimes there are other persons who can give each one or even both of us something that we can't give each other. We are polyamorous.

I also have another partner: She is a very demanding woman. High maintenance and takes up a lot of my time and money. And at times results in minor disagreements with my land wife. But actually, my primary loves her too. Though fickle and at times obnoxious, she makes up for it by providing us with most of the fabulous seafood we enjoy. She is The Sea Wyf, our boat.

I have had a number careers including but not limited to college professor, prospector, entrepreneur, trapper, artist and writer.

Currently, we are into permaculture and subsistence living. We write books and articles on these subjects.

I have been good at most everything I ever tried. I often take on new projects with which I have had no previous experience.

Thinking in a quantitative way. I mentally attempt to put the natural world, both physical and biological, into equation form.

I can fix almost anything. Get it to work anyway. Perhaps it won't be like the factory model but it will preform its function.

I'm really good at giving and love receiving affection.

The first thing people notice about me is that I am very direct. I do not say hurtful things but let folks know what I am thinking. It has served me well in life but has also gotten me into trouble on occasion.

Folks also usually note that I am very independent and dance to the beat of a different drummer.

Generally anything scientific, sci-fi and nature. l enjoy Barbara Kingsolver. We love to explore new tastes when we go out. At home we eat what we grow, pick, catch or shoot.

Music: Enjoying most forms of folk, Leonard Cohen, Kate Wolf, Dory Previn, 60s Dillon, Jimmy Buffet are among my favorities.

We do not have TV but get Netflix. Usually watch indy movies. My handle slidingportals from comes two films: The German flix "Run Lola Run" and "Sliding Doors." Both films implied that life's outcomes depend on which door you pass through.

Each other, the Earth, physical exercise, loving, sex, our fishing rods, hunting guns (some call us "gun-totten' liberals" or "liberal rednecks." We really confuse and scare the bubba conservatives), hoes, rakes, books, reading glasses, our dog, and computer. OK, a few more than 6.

Women! I could never do without women. They all possess an inner beauty. Women are unambiguously lovely and their incredible sensuality makes me melt. Their intelligence, compassion, level-headedness to say nothing of beauty, make life worth living.

Guess you can tell that I love women.

If you like nature, enjoy outdoors activities, are politically liberal, don't participate in organized religion. If you think we share enough interests to develop a close relationship even though I have a life partner.

If you like walking while holding hands or with our arms around each others' waist and would love being kissed in the Metro at rush hour. I would love to meet you.

At a minimum, we will not date anyone separately that we both don't like and respect. In an ideal situation, we'd love to have long term loving relationships where everyone would be entirely comfortable and happy with all present at any given time.
