My Self-Summary

I love music, books, food and travel. I've been charitably described as "quirky." A typical weekend might see me going to an indie rock concert, watching English Premier League football in a pub, catching up on reality T.V. (my guilty pleasure!) on my DVR, grabbing lunch or dinner at a local restaurant, practicing bellydance, going to a book club meeting, or puttering around the house doing yardwork. I love learning new things. I'm the person at the gym who picks the treadmill in front of the T.V. showing the National Geographic Channel. At the same time, I rarely take myself seriously, and I love to laugh. I'm looking for someone who is funny, intelligent, open to new experiences, curious about life, and who enjoys being with me.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a career counselor and a non-practicing attorney. I also write in my spare time and hope to be published some day. One new thing I'm doing is learning how to draw.

I’m really good at

wiggling my nose like a rabbit.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Right now I'm reading A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood, which has already made me cry. I'm such a sap.

My favorite band of all time is the late, lamented Libertines. I have continued to follow the careers of everyone in the band, and have made trips to England to see Peter Doherty and Carl Barat in concert. I enjoy many genres of music, but gravitate mostly to music made in the U.K. You can find me hanging out at the British showcases at South by Southwest, and at any touring U.K. show locally.

My DVD collection includes everything from Airplane! to Trainspotting. The most recent film I loved was Slumdog Millionaire, though I haven't seen many movies this year - too busy traveling! I am really looking forward to the new Sherlock Holmes movie, even if it doesn't look like any Sherlock Holmes I ever read.

On T.V., I admit to getting sucked in to reality shows, though I prefer the ones like Top Chef, Project Runway and So You Think You Can Dance where participants actually demonstrate some skills. I also watch Flight of the Conchords, 30 Rock, and the U.S. version of The Office religiously. I watch lots of British television as well - Doctor Who, Torchwood, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, Being Human, Mock the Week, Peep Show, The X Factor... I could go on!

I love food and love trying new things and places to eat. My favorite types of food are Indian, Tex-Mex, and Italian, but there's not much I won't eat.

The six things I could never do without

My friends. My family. The Internet. Books. My iPod. Oxygen.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How things came to be. Like, foods that are poisonous if you don't cook them in the right way. You would think that after the first person kicked the bucket, people would stop trying to find a way to eat that poisonous blowfish, and instead just leave it alone, you know?

You should message me if

you can make me laugh.
