My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an oddball mainstreamist who likes to think he knows what he wants when he does.
Work does take up time which I'd rather spend on things like some outdoors pursuit, visiting friends & family, reading, cooking and such like. I've lived abroad for many a year and decided to return to Germany aeons ago.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Chasing great stories and hoarding future memories. Work is important to me, but spare time is spare time. But honestly: it's just as much an aspiration (ad astra).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being utterly silly and dead serious at the same time. I'm really bad at pretense, which is why I like to truly enjoy things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hahaha!!! Tall, for sure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Aaah, books. I'm a shelved bibliophile and either read voraciously or not at all. Wallace Stegner is a favourite these days ("Angle of Repose" is fantastic), Pratchett is a mad genius and "Harun and the Sea of Stories" beautiful.

Food: The prospect of excellent food is probably the strongest domesticating force in the universe. Add decent wine and I'll do whatever is asked of me.

Movies: I like an action flick like the next guy. Not much into pretentious arthouse stuff. Just re-watched "The Big Blue" and was absolutely entraced. Beautiful.

Music: I think I've just understood Trip Hop. Only took me 10 or 15 years, but I couldn't care less about the genre. Generally, faves are pretty much anything between bluesy/jazzy stuff with a lot of loungy tunes thrown in, a bit of electric swing and some doo-da-hop-dedop-dadada-doo-doo-dooooo-dada-bebop. The ecclective mix they play on Radio FIP has been (and is) an education in music to me.
Sometimes, the most beautiful thing is the sound of an open car window when the night passes by.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Apart from the usual (friends, family) the outdoors, well-told stories, good food, wine, treating myself to whatever, good(!) exhibitions, travelling, quality(!) chocolate, random encounters and escapisms. And crickey: my smart phone. Well, maybe, I could. But I don't want to ;)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
what to do with my living room - couch here, shelves there? Oh, the decisions, why like this, why so hard? ;)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
donning my butterfly-man costume to free imprisoned roman caterpillars from my neighbour's dungeon where he feeds them to penguins to improve their guano output.

On less typical Friday nights I'm doing whatever - staying in, watching a movie, meeting friends, going out...
Le Weekend. We love it.
