thoughtful, challenging, and sceptical
My self-summary Propose an edit
I enjoy the silly and the obscure. I laugh a lot (frequently at
myself), but also enjoy serious discussions.I have strong views on
religion (I think they're fascinating but crazy) and politics (I'm
a lefty).
A few of my favourite films: Brazil, Pan's Labyrinth, Life is
Beautiful, Dog Day Afternoon, Withnail &
I, Mean
Streets, Eric the Viking (the neglected
pythonesque masterpiece!).
Favourite activities: Watching the rain from my apartment window,
hanging out with my cat in the back-garden.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I have a challenging and enjoyable job, that pays the mortgage on
my little flat. I enjoy the outdoors (bushwalking, kayaking,
bikeriding), but have been pretty lazy in recent years. My time has
been more focused on becoming a handywoman and power tool
aficionado while reburbishing my home. Very liberating!
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I read a lot, though it goes in waves, and is totally eclectic.
Recent have been a Ben Elton, Oliver Sacks, and a couple of
classic Sci-Fi. A few all time favourites: In Cold Blood - Truman
Capote, Now and Then - William Corlette, The Wind Up Bird Chronicle
- Haruki Murakami, The Tripods - John Christopher.
I've already talked about films up there ^ but I'm also a bit of a
TV junkie - currently watching Dexter, Dr Who (well every second ep
is good), Grand Designs, The Hollowmen.
I'm fascinated with how things work, science, contraptions and
gadgets. Architecture, particularly Gaudi and modernism, as well as
Arts Deco, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts are favourite things to
drool over, along with art and sculpture. I am however quite
ill-informed on all of these!
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Well, I believe I'm well centred enough these days to do without
anything at a pinch. But my new little Eeepc will help maintain my
internet addiction, then there is my really nice ebay sofa, my
comfy bed, various cool electronic gadgets, chocolate and my cat.
