My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm always learning and trying new things. I love to dance and listen to live music. I'm usually trying to think of a funny thing to say. In a former life I was an academic and I still enjoy intellectual conversations. I work hard to live an intentional life that is full of meaningful relationships and interesting experiences.

Looking for kind, funny, interesting fellows for new friends and short-term dating. No hookups.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Having a lot of fun!

I've been living in Austin for just over a year now (moved from Boston) and glad to be back home in Texas near my family again.

Mostly I like to eat good food, drink delicious drinks, enjoy a good conversation, and occasionally become loudly impassioned about things. I like anyone who's excited enough about something to seriously nerd out over it.

At present, my main interests are dancing (Lindy Hop), improv comedy (I'm taking classes) and learning to play jazz guitar.

I'm a fairly active person: I enjoy dancing, rock climbing, and lifting weights. Sometimes I go running or play soccer.

Social justice and feminism are important to me, and I believe people of all identities can and should support those things! If it's not already obvious, my politics lean to the left.

I love learning. I am always interested in picking up new skills and knowledge, so I have this very eclectic history of hobbies I've tried out, and my career path is fairly unorthodox.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have been told I'm a good listener.

Also, I can DIY with the best of them. I own a power drill and a sewing machine and I'm not afraid to use them. (Never at the same time, though. Safety first.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I tend to talk with my hands. I think it's my Italian heritage coming out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I think this section is mostly unhelpful and takes some of the fun out of early conversations. That said, for you hardcore folks:

I love music of all kinds but especially swing-era jazz (Duke, Basie, Billie, Ella). I am a big nerd and I like to read nerd books and watch nerd TV shows and movies. I'm vegetarian-ish.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
a challenge
human contact, in both senses (that's not cheating the limit, that's judicious use of vocabulary)

I could do without coffee, but I'd be far less likeable.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why is it so hard to find comfortable yet attractive shoes?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out dancing, trying something new, hanging with friends, or possibly chilling at home. I like variety.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think this is the first time in my life I'm actually serious about only wanting to do short-term dating (as opposed to long-term).

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
I'm reading Aziz Ansari's book "Modern Romance," and there's a chart in it that shows women get up to 4x as many messages as men per day. So yeah, keeping the ol' OKC inbox under control is like a part-time job in and of itself. Please be patient if you haven't heard back from me yet!

Also, you should read Ansari's book, it's interesting and funny in parts, but mostly just really interesting. And then we could talk about it over coffee or drinks.
