My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Let's see. I am a warm, funny and intelligent woman, somewhat uninhibited and definitely exuberant. Raised in coalfield Pennsylvania, youngest of three kids, spoiled by parents and pummelled by older brothers, recovered from both.
My life has been spent in creative endeavors--children's book illustrator and designer, photo editor and writer. I have one child, a young man who is successfully launched into his own career in journalism.
My tastes are eclectic---I'm a movie fanatic, love classical music, jazz--but I also have an inexplicable love for watching Judge Judy. I read a lot, and would like to meet someone who does, too. I adore children, give money to street people and love to poke around junk shops. Road trips, flea markets, book stores--yes. But I'm also up for new interests. I'm easy going and usually up for an adventure.
At this point in my life, I'm not sure what's on tap as far as romance goes. I'm always interested in what's next, and would consider friendship, partner in crime--and if love comes...cool beans.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I lost an editing job because of the economy, I decided to consider myself retired from that career and see what else I'd like to do. In the years since I've worked as a nanny (I adore children) and am now a private chef for a local family. Flexibility and energy are important, and I'm having a great time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking, writing, drawing, being a friend and making people laugh. (I'm told I am a great storyteller.)

As far as stepping out--I love something grand and exciting as much as you probably do, but I'll tell you--frankly--I can get very happy from a new pair of socks.
The first things people usually notice about me

Whew.
If I don;t see a movie every weekend, I feel deprived. I love indies, foreign (subtitles? no problem), films about ideas and character. Not too big on explosions and definitely not willing to sit through deafening gunplay. However, do have an appetite for schtoopid fart joke buddy movies from Judd Apatow, Kristen Wiig, etc. I love to laugh. Love Louis CK (my sense of humor is somewhat twisted), British humor, Larry David, etc. I'm a binger on the great series--Breaking Bad, HOmeland, Brit detectives, etc.
Like I said, I'm a reader. The New Yorker, NYTimes, mainly non-fiction. Love history, biography.
There aren't many kinds of music I don't like. I can enjoy country as much as jazz, hard rock (Alvin Lee at Woodstock!) as well as show tunes, World music, American song book, etc. I sing when I'm alone and sound EXACTLY like Katy Perry in the shower.
Food? Bring it on.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
(this doesn't include our children, does it?)

something to read, the New York Times crossword, chocolate, a good pen, my cat, and a great bakery on Sunday morning.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
either out with friends to dinner or half comatose at home from a long, hard week. Sometimes I drift off to sleep and--I don't know what all goes on--but when I wake up there are very tiny mouse-size underpants all around the throw rug.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
inadmissable.
