I am outgoing, open, and sincere.
My Self-Summary
According to a test I took I'm a nerd, which explains why I was
beaten up so much in school... It's all good. I read somewhere that
being a nerd isn't so bad these days.
My girlfriend and I recently broke up, but I'm not looking to jump
right into another relationship. It just wouldn't be a good idea
for any parties involved. But if you want to be friends, please
feel free to message me.
It's important for me to spend as much time with my kids as
possible. It's also very important for me to have some fun and be
social once in a while. I spend a great deal of time talking with
my friends, either in person or on the phone or via email.
Please take note of this: I'm very gregarious, and language
skills are very important to me.
I love to debate. Some people call it arguing, I call it
"learning!" My Myers-Briggs type is ENTJ, so I'm a very logical
thinker most of the time, and I believe there is NO PROBLEM that
can't be resolved by using rational thought. I don't entirely
disregard emotion. I'm just not good at READING emotions, so I need
it spelled out for me. In monosyllabic words...
I expect a lot from others, but I expect even more from
myself. Truthfulness (NOT truth*i*ness) is imperative. I'm an
honest person, and I demand honesty from others. No matter how much
it hurts!
I also have a very frivolous and silly side. There is a part of me
that will NEVER grow up. I love all kinds of games and playing with
my kids (and their toys). Legos fascinate me. Right now, I'm hooked
on WoW. Yup.
I love the History Channel and Discovery Channel! If you
turn on my TV at any given time, and it's not on some kind of
cartoon channel (from the kids, I swear), it'll be on one of those
two channels. Okay, okay I watch cartoons too. My faves are
Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents, and almost anything on Adult
Swim.
People have a hard time figuring me out. I do what I need to do,
and then I do what I want to do. I say what I think, but that
doesn't mean you can't change my mind. That's pretty much all there
is to figuring me out. I think people waste too much time trying to
"read between the lines" when they're talking to me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm out of work and sick of being an out of work engineer. So I'm
looking to start a new career while supporting my kids and trying
to figure myself out. I qualify as a "dislocated worker," which
means I can get money from the government for school.
*IF* I can get all the paperwork done in time, I'm going back to
school to train as an IT guy. Of course, this means my life is
going to be very busy for the next couple years. Maybe too busy to
be in a relationship. But like I said before, if you want to be
friends, send me a message!
I’m really good at
I like to sing, and people applaud when I
karaoke. Not just the polite "golf
clapping" either. Depending on what phase the moon is in, I'm
pretty good at darts. I've seen plenty of people in Rockford who
can obliterate me, though. I'm pretty good at most
video games. I'm good with
computers, but
please don't ask me to fix yours. I like to
write. Overall, I'm a good communicator.
Sometimes TOO good. I'm a good listener. I'm sure there are other
things I'm good at, but I was raised to be a humble guy, so I'll
just stop...
It's been a while since I sang karaoke. When I go to a bar, I want
to drink beer, and beer costs money. Money is tight these days. ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. People tell me that all the time.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
A) History and fantasy books are my faves. I've read the Lord of
the Rings series at least five times. C.S. Lewis has always been
one of my favorites. Stephen King was good, but I don't like his
newer books as much. I'm currently fighting my way through the
Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's a tough read. I've been
working on it for two years now and I'm about half done.
B) I like any movie that doesn't suck. I tend to like period movies
and action flicks, but I try not to limit myself. I love a GOOD
sci-fi movie. I've seen the Star Wars movies a hundred times
apiece. (I told you I was a nerd!) Romantic comedies aren't bad,
but not my preferred fare. I just rented "The Seventh Seal" from
Netflix. 1958, Max Von Sydow flick. Heavy, Deep, VERY good. Check
it out sometime! I just bought "The Dark Knight" because everyone I
trust told me it was awesome and they were right! Best Batman flick
to date, IMHO. Also made the mistake of buying "Underworld 3, Rise
of the Lycans." That one disappointed me greatly.
C) I listen to just about any music, but my faves are Country,
Blues, and Classic Rock. I like zydeco music also, and I'm a big
fan of Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. If you haven't done
so already, I suggest you catch them live. "There ain't no party
like a Chubby party!" I
karaoke everything from Garth Brooks to
John Fogerty to Run DMC!
D) I like Italian Food, Mexican food, and Chinese food. And K-F-C
(Fried Chicken and Buttermilk Biscuits, baby)! I'm pretty
open-minded when it comes to food, but I don't know if I'm ready to
try sushi yet!
The six things I could never do without
1. My
kids family,
friends, you know the routine...
2. A car
3. A Swiffer Sweeper
4. Something to read
5.
Movies
6. A hot shower
* This list is subject to change (Except for #1) as I am constantly
evaluating my priorities in life, if this worries you it shouldn't.
Once we become friends, you're bumped into the #1 spot!
*If it seems like I'm making fun of this list, you're probably
right! :) Google
Maslow's Basic Human Needs sometime. That's
what I believe we all *really* need. This is just fluff...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why in the world I ever wanted to be an engineer!
...
And cheese.
...
No really!
My mind wanders a lot.
What was the question again?
On a typical Friday night I am
50% of the time, I'm with my
kids
Otherwise, I'm either:
1) At home
watching a movie reading,
writing, or playing WoW (75% percent of 50% of my Friday
nights)
2) Out at a bar playing darts
3) Out at a bar singing
karaoke
4) Out at a bar playing darts & singing
karaoke
5) Out with friends doing something OTHER than drinking and/or
playing darts & singing
karaoke
(The last 4 are VERY rare these days)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I used to read encyclopedias for fun when I was in grade school.
You should message me if
You're not looking for anything other than a friend...
Added bonus points if you:
Can write and speak intelligently...
At least take a peek at my journal first...
Don't bother sending me a message if:
You're just going to comment on my looks.
You're running some kind of scam. I'll see you coming. I guarantee
it.
