I am quixotic, daring, and giving.

My Self-Summary

Lets see if I can successfully write something distinctive enough so its not "everybody says that"...
I'm dad to 2 great kids; 16 & 13 girl and boy. They're with me 7 days at a time every other week and I love time with them. I volunteer with the local kid's soccer league where I referee and maintain their website. My kids apparently got the 'help others' gene from me because they also have a couple of groups where they volunteer.

Friends have said they like me and that I'm fun to be around. I enjoy getting out of the house and spending time with friends. I have LA Kings season tickets (yes, there is hockey in Los Angeles) and seem to enjoy myself where ever I go and whatever I do. I really enjoy taking photos and seem to have my camera everywhere I go, whether its when I'm out with friends (who all hate me for bringing it, albeit a brief hate) or out riding my motorcycle though the Santa Monica Mountains (which I don't get to do nearly enough). I like going to see live bands play, whether its a well known band at a big venue, a lesser known group at a club or theater, or my friends' bands at the local bar.

I tend to care about people and try to put others first, in everything I do. I believe in honesty, honor, and chivalry; yes I still open doors... for everyone. When you first meet me I may seem a bit conservative, but I've been told I'm like an onion with multiple layers...peel through them and you'll be more than a bit surprised. I definitely have sides that are not shared, and to me it makes sense. Work doesn't need to know about my personal life, and kids (and other family for that matter) don't need to know what daddy does on Friday night when they're not around.

I now have a new puppy, so I get to spend time with her on walks and at the dog park. I'm also dog sitting for a friend, so I've got two in the house at the moment.

This is rough, trying to get something posted after just realizing that nothing was here. I may come back and edit... or technology may fail me again and prevent me from making edits. (or will my brain forget to return?) :)

What I’m doing with my life

Not as much as I want to... but I'm happy in what I do! I enjoy helping people; I've been a medic in the Army, EMT, and worked with LACo Fire Dept and US Forest Service. Now, I volunteer with local kids' organizations, encourage my kids to volunteer (and they do!), but for my income I'm a computer systems administrator/architect specializing in e-mail (please, try to contain your excitement). I take care of the stuff behind the scenes though so I only MIGHT be able to help you with your home computer... ask nicely though and I'll see what we can do. ;)

As a much smaller, side thing, and just because I enjoy it, I also do photography and some videography. I've done wedding videos, band photos, and action motorcycle photos.

I’m really good at

Being a great parent. My kids are number 1 in my life.
My job
Being a friend
Helping others
Being affectionate
Solving problems, no matter what kind

The first things people usually notice about me

I dunno... you'll have to ask people.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books... not many, but the 5 books in the "Hitchhikers' Guide..." trilogy, and almost anything I can learn something from. Just read "I am legend" - the original, not the movie version - and now reading other stories by Richard Matheson.

Movies... I like things that deal with the mind -- "Fight Club", "A Beautiful Mind" -- or are just plain ol' entertaining -- "Better Off Dead", Monty Python, "Raising Arizona", "The Fifth Element"...

Music... I have a VERY diverse playlist, but my top bands are Zebrahead, Offspring, Alkaline Trio, Dave Matthews, Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly, Oingo Boingo, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Pulley, Rise Against, Snow Patrol, Sugarcult, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Amanda Palmer, The Dresden Dolls. There's more that I enjoy and may not even know what it is!

Food... sushi, just discovering Thai, steak/bbq

The six things I could never do without

In no particular order....

My Kids
Friends
Music
Love shared with that special person
My optimistic outlook
My sense of humor

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, what else there is, what else I could be doing, and where I left my beer... or my coffee....

On a typical Friday night I am

Depends. If my kids are with me I'm probably spending it with them. If they're not (they're with me every other week) then I'm hopefully out with friends enjoying the night! Maybe at a hockey game (Go Kings!) or relaxing at the pub and doing some enjoyable people watching! I'm pretty free though...what do you wanna go do? :)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

admit here... not much. 1-on-1 I'd be more open. I'll even tell ya about jail and the psych hospital.

You should message me if

hmmm.... you should message me if you want to! I don't bite (unless you want me to) (cliche' I know...but I couldn't resist), and I'll probably respond!
