My self-summary
Parsimony is the order of the day.

I'm physically nondescript. As to my intangible assets, I'm loquacious and usually quick-witted but often blunt; a realist, but with an ironic, confusing (and often frustrating) idealist/romantic streak.

I adore diversity but abhor extremism. I encourage the development of strong beliefs, but I also advocate being prepared to discuss, defend, and refute.

A sense of humor and a tolerant attitude are guaranteed must-haves when dealing with me; you'll probably be offended otherwise (fair warning).
What I’m doing with my life
Aaaaaand, it's official. I'm a college graduate with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, minor in Spanish.

I'm making an effort to improve my overall health. I've quit smoking and I'm exercising no less than three times weekly, aiming for five days a week as my schedule permits. I don't mind if any potential S.O. smokes or isn't as enthusiastic about exercise, but it would be nice to have a partner to shoot for some life improvement goals alongside.

I like to take naps when I can fit them in. Naps are soooo good.
I’m really good at
Talking about absolutely nothing and making it sound really important.

Eating with chopsticks using either hand.

Shotgunning Yoo-Hoos. (College life is AWESOME!) Not so much anything else, just Yoo-Hoos.

Hugging. I'm pretty damn good at hugs. This isn't opinion, it has been confirmed.

Procrastinating, then meeting a deadline with acceptable to excellent results at the last minute.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm kinda short for a dude. So if you're looking for tall, dark and handsome, well... Good luck?

I'm also opinionated. "Loud" works too. I'm not above crass or dirty jokes, sarcasm, or saying something outright ridiculous.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm going with a "Big 3" version as a fair sample. Except for music because my collection and taste is always expanding and food because, well, food.

Books- Tim O'Brien "The Things They Carried", Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays With Morrie", Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

Movies- Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, the "El Mariachi" series

Shows- Castle. PBS is fun sometimes too. Also, Jeopardy.

Music- Mainly old-school rock, jazz/blues/big band, and I'm starting to grow an affinity for some rap. I've now caught a serious case of the wub-wubs. Cuz, y'know, I can.

Food- Yes. On that note, I've started a tentative, but rapidly-blooming love affair with Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, or "Rooster Sauce" to some. I like calling it "Hot Cock Sauce" to make the sensitive and homophobic visibly wince. What can I say, I've got a gift.
The six things I could never do without
-Naps. Man, I love me some naps.
-Crude humor and regular profanity, usually together.
-My games. Seriously. XBox, pc games, you name it. I'm even down for pen & paper. All work and no play makes Jack/Jill a dull boy/girl.
-My multi-tool. It doesn't do everything, but it does enough things that I don't mind.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm not even going to try and put what goes on in my head into any kind of concise explanation. There's a lot going on in my bean when I'm not being distracted by something shiny.
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to figure out if any of my friends are off work. This is usually unproductive, so more often than not I'm here at home, browsing the internet and having a drink or two. Saturdays are generally more active for me, and as cliched as it might sound, it's all up for grabs.

Now, ideally I'd like to be out doing something social. Grabbing a bite to eat, out bowling (yeah, I like to bowl) or shooting pool- something simple that can stand on its own or lead off into other adventures. I keep a fairly small, trusted social circle but I don't mind rubbing elbows with new people. Pushing outside your comfort zone is how you expand it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wish I was cooler. I'm probably not the un-coolest person I know, but I think I am among my circle of close friends. You're probably cooler than me too, but I'm alright with that.

I don't think I'll ever be as good of a person as I wish I could be.

I click on some profiles just to read them. If they're very good (or incredibad) I get genuinely impressed.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
-You're honest, open, and willing to be straightforward about your expectations. I work better when I know the boundaries before I get to them.

-You have a love of beer, cheesecake, and/or coffee. Any one of the three is good; two is even better, but all three is pretty much max cool in my book. (optional but a plus)

-Or, y'know, just say "Hi." I usually don't bite, and I'm up on my shots anyways, so you're safe. Mostly.

-You know better than to take everything you've just read seriously. If you're not sure, it might behoove you to ask. Or, go ahead; take everything you've just read seriously if you want to. It's your call, just sayin'.

That pretty much covers my bases.
