i like to do things that i think are hard or that scare me so i can challenge myself -- it's important to me to keep learning about myself. this shows up in various ways but most recently i performed in front of a room full of strangers as i sang and played guitar.

i also believe in being kind to others (friends and strangers). i suggest riding behind me at bridge tolls... i just might pay for yours!

like most people in the bay area, i work for a tech company. work keeps me awfully busy but it doesn't consume my life - i make a point to make time for the people and things i enjoy doing.

i think the art of relaxing is totally underappreciated so i work on that semi-regularly. this may include lounging at home, sitting idly in a coffee shop, going for a drive, or sleeping in.

when i'm not busy relaxing i might be playing guitar (started taking lessons about two years ago), baking, finding mischief, or getting into shenanigans with friends.

one thing you should know about me straight away is that i tell pretty awful jokes. do you want to hear one? okay, but don't say i didn't warn you...

i have not done much book-reading lately. i find that i start books, read a few chapters and then things get busy and i forget. or maybe i'm choosing the wrong books. got any suggestions?

silence of the lambs is my favorite movie. i like other movies, though. comedies and pixar films and stuff and i'm more inclined to see a thriller / action / horror movie over a romantic comedy. actually, i just really like going to the movies and will see almost anything as long as jim carrey isn't in it. (ps: i am very serious about this jim carrey thing).

i love parks and rec and jeopardy, game of thrones and homeland. also dexter, new girl, girls, bones. i'll admit i watch some terrible reality shows that i don't even tell my friends i watch so don't worry, i would never subject you to them. oh, and the golden girls and roseanne sometimes.

on my current and more recent rotation is: bon iver, the head and the heart, macklemore and ryan lewis, the avett brothers, penguin prison, and mumford & sons. i also like yacht rock, classical, classic rock and a bunch of other stuff too.

food is super cool, especially if it's spicy. i started eating red meat recently after 8 years without it so now all i want are cheeseburgers. i like trying new things and i also really like breakfast for dinner.

cracking my knuckles (studies show that it does not contribute to arthritis but does make you look like a total badass if timed correctly)

super cold water (that stuff is so damn good, especially when it's frozen into cubes with gin and tonic all around it)

little containers to put stuff in (organizing is so sexy)

baby versions of most animals (but not dogs, just kidding those things are so dang cute)

trees & forests and junk (nature is seriously rad)

cheese (all kinds, even the processed stuff)

... how that scene when rufio dies in hook is so damn sad. gets me every time. bangarang.

as of late i have been spending time looking for / creating / finding balance. i realized, though, that balance is a direct result of clear and manageable boundaries. i think my mom would say i'm growing up.

is this okcupid's way of asking me if i'm free for a date on friday night? because i will totally check my calendar...

i have never been to vegas and i generally keep a running list of karaoke song ideas.
