My idea of a successful life is expressed eloquently in a poem by Betsy Stanley, 1905
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
I'm most proud of raising my two children; my daughter and son, to be loving people and conscientious, active citizens, who both are making the world a better place.
I have already succeeded. Whatever else I accomplish during this new chapter of my life will be icing on the cake. Now that my kids have both left the nest, the possibilities for my continued success and further growth are endless. I'd love to meet someone who has similar interests to mine and has the same values and beliefs; someone who when given the chance to sit it out or dance, will always dance.
I'm looking for someone to share my life with; someone I can be myself around; someone who works as hard as I do to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit; someone who feels as comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans as she does dressed to the nines; someone who likes to hold and likes to be held; someone who loves being active, social, adventurous, faithful, and fun. If we are meant to be together, it will be effortless to find comfort and joy sharing the mundane experiences of everyday life as well as the most memorable special events.
