My self-summary
Trying to write something in this box that is not mere clichés is difficult. How can I avoid meaningless platitudes about being kind-hearted and genuine? My known trademark is my raised left eyebrow. I despise passive agressiveness; however, I am stricken with the ailment at times. I read too much, and I spend too much time pondering politics and the meaning of life, only to find that both do not have any easy answers. Beyond that, I attempt to alleviate existential angst through wild and crazy antics.

I am intellectual, suave, and cheeky
What I’m doing with my life
working in the high-powered, glamorous world of higher ed admin. Got a phd in modern European history, after completing a dissertation on gender and politics in France, after Napoleon.
I’m really good at
I don't know? I write well. I am an incisive movie critic. I am too smart for my own good
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently, my eyes...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
so many ....
Movies: Casablanca, Godfather, Up in the Air, Brokeback, Moulin Rouge (52 and 2000), San Francisco, Tootsie, Finding Nemo, Mildred Pierce, Todo Sobre mi madre, Les Enfants du paradis, Baraka, Flower Drum Song, Victor/Victoria, ET, GWTW, Charade, Foul Play... I'll make you watch all of them, don't worry
Books: red and the black, the Stranger, The Memory Room, Beloved, The Foul and the Fragrant, Condition of Postmodernity, Downcast Eyes, Mlle de Maupin, Les Miz, Picture of Dorian Gray, Keats, Raymond Williams, Pride and Prejudice, The Tempest, and Valley of the Dolls
Music: all of it.
Food: Soup (french onion soup, split pea soup, phô, tom yum kai soup, chicken and rice soup, turkey basil soup, potato leek soup, broccoli cheddar soup, baked potato soup)--s o many kinds!
The six things I could never do without
well beyond the obvious (air, water, unclogged arteries): I would have to say: a large collection of books and DVDs, an urban setting, stimulating conversation, a bed, and soup.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
worrying about Armageddon... just kidding! I feel as if I am supposed to write a Miss-America-like answer here: "making the world a better place!" Well, to be honest, I think about that but through politics and history, not through adopting orphans from Malawi...
On a typical Friday night I am
at the movies and having dinner with close friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am a klutz
You should message me if
you are entranced by my demeanor and acerbic wit.
