Hi. I'm JC. I'm a guy, and I'm in Columbus. I've moved back here, to my hometown, back with my family for now, unfortunately. Life's a tumultuous sea, no? I'm currently on hiatus from getting my degree in computer science, and I plan to go on and maybe be a programmer once I have that piece of paper. Or maybe I will be off to graduate school. Who knows? Now, if you don't already know, most programmers are geeks. Yeah, I'm one of them, I guess. I do like some geeky stuff, like video games and Star Trek and theoretical physics (Hey you. Don't judge me.), but I have plenty of normal interests too. Music (both listening and playing), movies (Netflix is wonderful), the usual. I think I'm a decently good guy. I'm nice, more or less. I'm fairly intelligent. I'm a quiet guy, and pretty laid back most of the time. Don't get me wrong; I might come off as a little shy, but once I open up a little, I'm pretty multifaceted, passionate and nuanced.

I'm pretty into politics. I love keeping up with what's going on in Washington (usually not much, sadly). I lean to the left, especially on the social issues, but I try to get along with everyone. I'm not a liberal, exactly; I'm an independent with some views scattered over the spectrum. Ultraconservatives probably need not apply, although I'm going to stay pretty open-minded.

I really enjoy video games. That's my main method of getting rid of stress. For an abbreviated list of games I like, see the favorite media section below; the entire list is quite long. I'm mainly a 360 player, although I've been playing a lot of PC games lately. If you've got an interest in video games, that's a big plus.

One big interest I have is trying new, interesting food and drink. I do enjoy adventurous dining. If there's something odd on the menu, I'm probably up for trying it. Food keeps us alive. It might as well be interesting. Exciting, even. I love cooking as well, and I think I'm pretty good at it. Also, I love craft beer. Anything with unusual flavors or colors or ingredients or background is right up my alley. Trying interesting craft beers and microbrews is really a passion of mine. Good beer is good. And now I've started brewing beer at home. It's very tasty. And it's science at work!

In the past, I considered majoring in English, Computer Engineering, Psychology, Technical Theatre, Communication and Theatre Arts, Video Game Design and Development, Education, and Marketing. Now, I've settled on Computer Science. I would claim that I'm a Renaissance man, but I don't have the art part down. I can't even draw a decent stick figure. Can I just count cooking as my art? I love cooking. Also, I'm good at it.

I'm currently trying to turn a page in my life, but the pages seem to all be stuck together.

Computer science. Hopefully grad school for Artificial Intelligence after I get my bachelor's degree. I'd really love to work at a video game development studio for a few years, working on AI to really challenge gamers. After I grow up (if I grow up), maybe I'll get a more mundane (but less stressful and high-paying) job as a programmer or IT specialist or something related. Or maybe I'll open a restaurant or write novels or something.

Solving technical problems. Guitar Hero. Cooking and baking. Probably more, but I'm not good at thinking I'm good at things.

I'm quiet. It's because I'm shy at first. But when I get to know someone a little better, I loosen up.

I think about my future career a lot, and what implications my field could have on society. We're on the edge of drastic, enormous advances in technology, and I'm ready to be right there leading the charge. Playing video games, watching movies, or exploring the internet.

I would LIKE to be out with a few friends or sitting somewhere getting to know someone better. Or, in the case of a cold winter night, sitting under a blanket on a couch or bed next to someone, watching a good movie and enjoying the warmth. But those require other people, and I'm rather lacking in those most of the time. I am, of course, taking applications.

I'm way, way geekier than I let on sometimes. I regularly lose hours to wikipedia, and not even on articles that are in any way useful.

I am an Eagle Scout, but don't hold that against me, please.

I've had issues with severe clinical depression. Still do. I get by, with a little help from my friends.

I'm here to meet new friends and hopefully someone to date. I am a little shy, so if I seem interesting, please send me a message. I'm going to try to be more proactive and send more messages, and I'm definitely going to answer pretty much any message I get. "hi how r u" or "wat kind of music r you in2?" as initial messages don't generally get my attention. A message like "Wanna go kick holes in unicorns?" might. Or at something with a little substance.
