My self-summary
Humanity i love you
because you would rather black the boots of
success than enquire whose soul dangles from his
watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both

parties and because you
unflinchingly applaud all

— E. E. Cummings
What I’m doing with my life
Making sure that the NSA isn't the only group spying on you; everybody should have a go.
I’m really good at
Talking to strangers. Removing words from sentences without destroying them.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm barefoot and mysteriously still business casual.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading: The Unwinding (beautiful narratives about money displacing institutions in the US), The Fucking Epic Twitter Quest of @MayorEmmanuel, How to Read a Book, various statistics papers. Gabriel Garcia Marquez still owns my heart. In my early twenties I was cured of philosophy but I relapse occasionally.

Listening: Boards of Canada, Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Simon & Garfunkel, Belle & Sebastian. Taylor Swift (come on, she's awesome). Square-wave-y video game music is great for focus.

Playing: Blues ukulele, and most recently mandolin. I'm happy to have picked up an instrument as an adult.
The six things I could never do without
1. Social gatherings with space for side conversations
2. Making and breaking habits
3. Science fiction
4. Meditation
5. Used book stores
6. Accomplices
On a typical Friday night I am
Hosting a dinner party. I try to be friends with people who can carry on a good conversation.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Every once in a while when I'm alone I worry that I am trapped in a horror movie.

I find OkCupid to be a great source of self-knowledge. Seriously, how often do you fill out questionnaires like this about yourself?
You should message me if
The fact that I'm in a happy open marriage with eyesofgreen4 is a turn-on instead of a turn-off.

You think that talking nerdy and talking dirty complement each other.

You don't mind that, realistically, I'm only free a few nights a month.

You're my missing Costco Soulmate Trading Outlet soulmate.

You can teach me how to better play bridge.

You have nostalgia for planetariums.
