My self-summary
Giving OKCupid a shot because hey, why not right?

I'm a huge comedy fan. I typically make the effort to go see stand up at least once a month.

I would describe myself as an idealistic optimist who maintains a sense of grounded pragmatism. If you watch how I met your mother, my friends like to describe me as a mix between Moseby and Marshall. I have an abundance of enthusiasm about things that most people would consider mundane or lame. I also have a propensity for sarcasm and am king of random useless facts.

I'm a former investment banker. I left finance and I now make my living doing something that I actually love and that I'm passionate about. I work as a freelance cinematographer, 1st AC, and film colorist.

Drunken game night with friends is typically the high point of my week, as it damn well should be.

I'm starting to realize this is the most scattered, awkward, and disorganized series of paragraphs I've probably ever written.

Random fact about myself: I have a deep fascination with stars (on a clear night with no light pollution, which sadly is nowhere near LA), scenic landscapes/nature, and pretty much every square foot of new zealand and Ireland. I browse http://www.reddit.com/r/earthporn on a daily basis (Don't be afraid to click it, I promise it's not what you think)

And that should just about tie up my awkward describe myself section.
What I’m doing with my life
I spend most of my time trying to figure out where one can get a good bagel in LA. You would think that it would be easy in this town....
I’m really good at
Speaking with an Irish accent, random facts/trivia, my job, puzzles/logic games, making people laugh, thinking I'm a great cook even though I'm not, adventuring, making your pets love me more than they love you, eating in LA

I'm also pretty much unstoppable when it comes to board games. Taboo, balderdash, cranium, scrabble, boggle, risk, cards against humanity, monopoly etc. Or (at your own peril) you can try and take me on in super smash brothers, mario kart, goldeneye, or mario party (nintendo 64 of course). I apparently lack the hand eye coordination to excel at anything on the wii
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I'm the overly friendly/social guy. I'm that guy who talks to the strange person in the next seat at the bar because hey, who knows, maybe they'll have a great story.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
**Prepare yourself for the mighty impending wall of text**

So a disclaimer: I watch a lot of tv shows and movies (I promise, I still manage to leave the apartment). In a way... it essentially qualifies as "research" for me which is nice. I'm a huge cinematography junkie and absolutely 100% in love with visual storytelling. It's a big part of my life and as such.... the lists below are.... long... and not even close to complete. Yes, I know it's extreme overkill, but I couldn't stop once I got started. Plus I figure at the very least, I'll help someone out there discover something new that they haven't seen before =)

Books: Anything by Fydor Dostoyevsky and most other notorious Russian authors like Tolstoy, Pushkin, and Chekov. Dystopian novels by the likes of Huxley or Bradbury. Dawkins. Palahniuk. The Count of Monte Cristo (with a life goal being to one day read it in its native French). Ender's Game series was my go to as a kid. Tolkien. Goodkin. A Song of Ice & Fire series (game of thrones). Calvin & Hobbes. I also read a lot of film industry related books

Music: I run the gamut from Mozart to Flogging Molly. I typically annoy everyone else on set by whistling sinatra non stop. I also have about 20 hours worth of "epic" soundtracks from films. Lately I've been listening to The XX's new album while editing to help me power through. I just shot with Milo Greene & Alt-J so they're my current flavors of the week

This blew my mind the first time I heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdYJf_ybyVo

Food: I love to cook and eat pretty much everything. I'll typically try anything at least once. Some of my favorites include ribeye, most fish, good burgers, bacon, chocolate, mexican food (guacamole, nachos, tacos, burritos, etc.), paella, bacon, jambalaya, garlic, garlic aioli, anything involving blue, burrata or gorgonzola cheese, chicken parm, fried/black truffle mac n cheese, and bacon

TV Shows: American Horror Story, Arrested Development, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Chuck, Dexter, Family Guy, Fawlty Towers, Futurama, Game of Thrones (easily up there at the top), Hell's Kitchen, Homeland, House of Lies (so underrated), How I Met Your Mother (SUIT UP!), It's Always Sunny, Lost, Modern Family, Random Stand Up Comedy, Seinfeld, Scrubs (up there in my top favorite sitcom of all time), Sherlock (bbc), South Park, The Borgias, The Colbert Report / Daily Show, The Newsroom (amazing show, you should watch it), The Office, The Walking Dead, Tosh.0, Vikings, Whose Line Is it Anyway?, Wilfred, Workaholics

Movies: 50/50 (such an underrated film), 2001: A Space Odyssey, 3:10 to Yuma, A Beautiful Mind, A Serious Man, Almost Famous, Amelie, American Beauty, American History X, American Psycho, Anchorman, Anything Woody Allen, Anything Mel Brooks, Apocalypse Now, Atonement (jaw dropping cinematography), Awakenings, Borat, Bravehart, Children of Men, Citizen Kane, Dark Knight (whole series), Dazed & Confused, Defiance, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Full Metal Jacket, Gladiator, Goodfellas, Harry Potters, History of the World Part I, Hot Fuzz, Inception, Indiana Jones 1-3, Inglourious Basterds, Lord of the Rings, Midnight in Paris, Milk, Monty Python (all of them + flying circus), Most Disney/animated movies, Munich, No Country for Old Men, Pan's Labyrinth, Pulp Fiction, Religulous, Safety Not Guaranteed, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Se7en, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Shawshank Redemption, Shutter Island, Skyfall, Spaceballs, Star Wars IV-VI, Super Troopers, Team America World Police, The Assassination of Jesse James, The Auteur, The Big Lebowski, The Departed, The entire 007 collection, The Godfather, The Green Mile, The Island, The King's Speech, The Shining, The Tree of Life, The Untouchables, There Will be Blood, Trainspotting, Wedding Crashers (for some reason, I can watch this over and over), Zoolander
The six things I could never do without
1) Reddit, because why be productive when you can browse until 3am?
2) My camera and being on set: should be pretty self explanatory by this point
3) Friends because friends are fun?
4) Family because they're probably the most entertaining people you'll ever meet
5) My career
6) Food: It's delicious and I couldn't come up with anything more clever after the first five
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything and everything..... probably about the next film I'm working on....

Who actually buys the middle tier gas option.....

Why Cee Lo's hands are so small.......
On a typical Friday night I am
Working on set, hanging out with friends, seeing some stand-up, or enjoying a well deserved night in
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was three years old my older sister tricked me into eating dried pigeon poop (she pretended to eat it and told me it tasted great).... Apparently my first comment was that it was crunchy and tasted like chicken.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–26

You have a keyboard and an active internet connection.

You want to go to Disneyland with me so I feel less guilty about paying for a pass after peer pressure from my friends.

Or if you know the proper answer to the question "what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?"
