I am large, long-haired, and lovely.
My Self-Summary
when i'm not sure what to say, i fill empty spaces with trivia and
trifles.
i'm giving okcupid.commendations from friends and spectacular
failures on other sites. i'm mostly interested in meeting new
people. i will talk to just about anyone.
i have a small group of very close friends and ripples of
acquaintances stretching out for miles. i've worked with the public
for years in one capacity or another so people often recognize
me.
my resting face is not a smile, so i frequently get asked "What's
wrong?" when i am simply not wearing any expression.
i'm at work more than i would like to be. i really like my job, i
just wish that the time i spent there paid better. or that what i
did made more of a difference.
i am passionate about napping.
i collect geeks, dweebs and nerds, but don't fit in to any of those
categories myself.
What I’m doing with my life
nothing that i expected to do. i currently use my degrees in
Psychology and English Creative Writing to manage a coffee shop. i
feel like i am simply occupying space in that position, but it's
not a good time for movement.
i have never been married, and after a break-up that stung more
than others, i took a break from dating. Now i'm interested in
meeting new people and seeing if a spark happens.
there are four children in my life that i consider to be nieces and
nephews, though only one is biologically related to me. sometimes
the ties are bind-i-er when you make them by choice.
I’m really good at
listening. talking. napping. making coffee. wasting time.
The first things people usually notice about me
my hair. it is long, dark (with a few stray greys) and has a bit of
a wave to it.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Catcher in
the Rye is a favorite book that i come back to at least once a
year.
She's Come Undone by Wally
Lamb and
Like Water for
Chocolate by Laura Esquivel both influenced me as a younger
adult. i find myself reading more biographies these days. fiction
doesn't hold my attention as well as it used. i blame "chic lit".
if i had to pick a favorite author, it would be a dead heat between
Mark Haddon
and
Daniel
Wallace. i feel like i should read more of "the classics" but
never seem to get around to it. you should message me if there's
one you think i need to pick up right now. i read graphic novels,
but am far more likely to pick up one with literature base than a
superhero. that being said, i love
Watchmen.
i just finished watching
The Lost Room. i enjoyed it too
much for it to have been a miniseries. i prefer to watch TV shows
on DVD, mostly due to my work schedule. it's so varied i can't
commit to a show while it is running. one of my favorite shows
right now is
How I Met Your Mother. it
has some of the best writing on TV at the moment and
NPH. Who can deny NPH? i also
like
The
Outer Limits, both original and the newer episodes.
if i can't decide what to watch, i will default to animation.
Invader Zim,
The Simpsons,
Foster's
Home for Imaginary Friends and Danger Mouse occur in regular
rotation.
i like most any movie, from the bargain bin cast offs to the high
brow cinema. each one has a value, be it inspiring
MST3K worthy commentary or life
altering depth. or any point in between. the last movie i watched :
The Specials,
again.
music-wise i am all over the map. right now i am digging on
yeah yeah
yeahs,
bat
for lashes,
crystal method,
regina spektor,
moby, and
alison krauss
i am trying to be more intelligent about the choices i make with
food. i have stopped eating fast food, and want to eat more fresh
foods. i have found that the better i eat, the less i want the junk
that i used to crave. however, i don't think i will ever beat the
craving for a burger and fries.
The six things I could never do without
Spike (my dog, not the cable channel). my family. my friends.
flannel sheets. lipgloss/chapstick. Stella (my car).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the past and the future. what does that say about my present? to be
fair, my job leaves me with fairly large spans of time to think
with only menial tasks to keep me busy. i often pick apart the
lyrics of whatever song is stuck in my head or i make up stories
about the customers in the store.
when i am not at work, i spend a lot of time thinking about my
friends, my family and whatever drama is playing out with them.
On a typical Friday night I am
either working or unwinding from a day at work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
that i need more time before i get too personal with you, mr.
okcupid.
You should message me if
you can tell me what my screen name references. if you are
interested in having an actual conversation. i'm not here for
random hook-ups, religious conversion or to talk politics so if
that's your major motivation, keep looking, this is not the profile
you seek.
