Well Edouard (First of all, what's with the crazy spelling!? Ugh.)
blew through today, and I was expecting more. I remember in 2001,
Allison hit, and flooded our freeways all the way up to the bridges
(that's over 16 FEET of water for about a mile). The medical center
was devastated, etc etc. Allison was just a tropical storm, but
people learned to respect nature. At least for that season. I've
tried to use that experience to remind me to respect storms, but
Edouard has let me down.
I was expecting more wind, more rain, *something*. I worked this
morning, and the drive in was by no means the worst storm I've
driven in, tropical or not. I drove in a worst storm a couple weeks
ago! The wind was a joke. I know it was supposed to be 65 mph, and
weather.com kept telling me it'd blow at 35 mph, but I didn't even
see a stiff breeze.
At least they let us leave work early. We thought it would get
worse, but here I am, home, and it's *not even raining*. Bah.
This has made for a boring day. I was so excited that I might be
stuck home with no power, left to drink my sorrows away... But
Edouard has let me down!
I hope at least no one had damage or flooding anywhere else, and
that this will be the worst storm the US sees this season.
