I am too practical, excited, and full of laughter.
My Self-Summary
and now its time for some non-sequitors!
I like lots of things: drinking champagne, eating sushi, eating Lao
food with my Lao roommate and her family, going on adventures,
being close to the people I love, napping in the sun, playing board
games, visual representations of data, and good public
transportation.
I like to wander in
new cities with only vague directions
and a slightly uncomfortable lack of knowledge about the place that
I am in.
I just finished (not really) tending my first ever garden. When I
go to the garden at night (its a community garden) I feel like I'm
on an adventure. And then I go get free bread from the bakery that
is already closed.
I like the smell of the dark room. I'm very practical, but
sometimes I'm too practical for my own good.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a small nonprofit that is the best little nonprofit in
the world.
no, but really, it is great. The downside is that I put in waay too
many hours.
I'm a little antsy in Milwaukee these days and I'm trying to figure
out what comes next. Do I want to go to grad school, and deciding
for what (options I think about include: public health, library
science, or maybe urban planning.
in my free time, I like walking by the lake, I'm trying to cook
more, be more active, and not get sucked into the winter
doldrums.
Sometimes I teach people how to breathe fire, but not in a while.
I’m really good at
zoning out while I'm driving
telling jokes
laughing at my own jokes
loving the people I'm close with
cooking tasty food
being practical
The first things people usually notice about me
my laugh and my really big boobs--no seriously
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like good books, and I am always looking for new things to read.
I have a great love for libraries. I really liked Freakonomics, The
Women of Brewster Place, Annie John, Sister Outsider,
Krik? Krak!,
Indian Killer,
Griffen and Sabine, The
Giver, Caucasia, Written on the Body, The Apprentice: My Life in
the Kitchen, The Painted Drum, lots more.
For a while I was reading a lot of novels written by women of
color. Right now I've been reading a lot of thriller/mystery novels
that are more like brain candy.
my favorite movies are Harold and Maude and the Thomas Crowne
Affair. I like heist movies, some Spike Lee movies, thoughtful
movies. I thought Grizzly Man was awful.
I love
music. My
newest favorite is Miike Snow. I also like M.I.A., Kimya Dawson,
Marcella, Andrew Bird, Regina Spektor, Daft Punk, FischerSpooner,
Eisley, Tegan and Sara, Lady GaGa, The Strokes, acoustic Nirvana,
Jose Gonzalez, Feist, Peaches, and Sia . I love trashy pop music to
dance to. I also am particularly in love with Bach's Cello
Sonatas.
I prefer ethnic foods. Indian, Thai, Lao, Japanese, Ethiopian,
Jewish, Mexican, Middle Eastern. and I like the food I've been
getting from my garden--esp the beets.
The six things I could never do without
my friends, my relationships with people, something to stimulate my
mind, laughter, fun adventures
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whats important to me
racism (and how to work against it)
my life and what I'm doing with it
what comes next (more school? public health or something
else?)
where I'm going next and who I'm going to go visit
where to meet cute girls
why I'm so bad at striking up conversation with people that I don't
know--and how to get over that
On a typical Friday night I am
sometimes by Friday night I am very very tired.
Other times I like to go on big adventures.
sometimes its a little of both.
often it involves friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I love jokes
You should message me if
you want to.
you know good jokes (or bad ones) but no racist ones.
you have interesting stories
you are a (or know a) nice girl in Milwaukee (or somewhere not too
terribly far away from Milwaukee)
you want to tell me about good music
bonus points for finishing my three "descriptors"
