My Self-Summary

I'm an american born, canadian educated 23 year old living who is about to start a new chapter of his education-- in London.

There are times that I wonder whether or not I was born in the right period, because at age 5 my favourite songs were "Bigmouth Strikes Again" by the Smiths and "Lost in the Supermarket" by the Clash because I liked the word bigmouth and sympathized with the latter.

Also who the hell can come up with three words to describe oneself?

What I’m doing with my life

I studied English/Politics in University and now i'm about to start an MA in Screenwriting though I'm also a theatre director.

I’m really good at

fixing computers, anything that has to deal with wrenches and lighting instruments, I used to study opera performance and music composition before I realized I hated acting personally but loved figuring out how to get other people to do it well and together but I think I'm pretty good at the whole directing thing.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm tall. Without facial hair I look teenaged (I guess that will be good when I'm 30?). I speak with my eyes a lot. Apparently my students could tell when I was REALLY happy with their work by how obviously I smiled (I taught secondary school for the last year.) I hope I'm not that obvious...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music: Joy Division/New Order, James, BT, Eric Whitacre, Arvo Part, Paul van Dyk, Blaqk Audio, The Chemical Brothers, Ting Tings, Vampire Weekend, Dubstar, Hybrid, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, Snow Patrol, The Clash, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Orbital, Dvorak, Debussy, Terry Riley, John Adams, Stravinsky, Ashley MacIsaac, Depeche Mode, Imogen Heap, Leonin & Perotin (if you know who these two are just marry me already), Bang on a Can, Steve Reich and a bit of Sondheim

TV: Battlestar Galactica (no comments) Slings and Arrows, Bones, True Blood, Silent Witness, House, Dexter, Sleeper Cell, Law & Order (Original, SVU and now of course UK), Six Feet Under, Weeds, Ab Fab, anything involving Carmen Sandiego, Quite Interesting, Doctor Who on occasion, Hotel Babylon, Kingdom

Novels/Books:
A Prayer For Owen Meany (Irving), How Proust Can Change Your Life (de Botton), Artist Unknown: An Alternative History of the Arts Council (Witts), A Separate Peace (Knowles), American Gods (Gaiman), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Adams), His Dark Materials trilogy/stage adaptation (Pullman, Wright), Contact (Sagan), Cat's Cradle (Vonnegut), All the King's Men (Penn Warren), L'Etranger (Camus), Les Jeux Sont Faits (Sartre)

Plays:
History Boys (Bennett). A Disappearing Number (Simon McBurney & Complicite), Cymbeline, Richard II, Henry V, Twelfth Night, Titus Andronicus (Dear ol Mr. Shakespeare aka the Earl of Oxford), Proof (Auburn), Angels in America (Kushner), A Number (Caryl Churchill), Possible Worlds (Mighton)

The six things I could never do without

My laptop, my ipod, something to read, friends/family, my mobile phone, and probably a significant portion of my body? you really need it to survive until they come out with that head in a glass vile thing from Futurama...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what the hell i am doing with my life. maybe that quarter-life crisis thing is coming a bit early but i say bring it on.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

if you watch Doctor Who, there's an alien race from Season 4 called the "Adipose." I may own an adipose baby stuffed animal. It's the cuddliest thing ever.

Deal with it.

You should message me if

you're vaguely sane?
