I am earnest, humorous, and variable.

My Self-Summary

I am a leftie pinko commie type, love to move, conflicted childhood, mixed race, passed as white (ok, I thought I was passing!) somewhat intellectual, love tools and building things. Unresolved competitiveness, especially in sports, pleasant to be with, not mainstream, I have artistic sensibilities but not the drive. Rather frugal, not middleclass, and short of attention for folks who enjoy retail therapy. Not hip, nor cool and no longer interested in pop culture. I would rather play than watch and would rather do 100 crunches than buy a new shirt.

What I’m doing with my life

Living, working, reaching for goals, mourning losses, liking my friends and cleaning my drive trains.

I’m really good at

Talking, doing arithmetic, not moving for 20 minutes at a time and reading aloud.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have a sense of humor and some people notice that I am pretty loud for an asian american.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My most recent film that I am thinking about is Goldfinger... well, ok, not really. "The Reader" with Kate Winslet. Outstanding. Left me feeling bereft. Yol by Yilmaz Gunez of Turkey, a similar feeling. There is a theme here. The boy in striped pyjamas, The counterfeiters and the theme is the holocaust!

I like Eritrean food and burritos from the Cancun.

Books: Nadine Gordimer's books,
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. Inspirational! That Paul Farmer is amazing. Let's hear it for eccentric parents.
Timbuktu by Paul Auster. A touching tale about a dog and his companions. Seemed very realistic.

Music played or dj'd by Stephen Kent.

The six things I could never do without

wind, fog, water, gravity, hills, trails, sweat, love, math

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What makes people the way they are.

On a typical Friday night I am

At work or getting ready to go to work... Not very exciting. On the other days, I am having dinner with friends or seeing a performance.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I like people. and I liked the film "Sideways".

You should message me if

You are interesting, have good attention and would like me.
