I am good, giving, and game.

My Self-Summary

If my life were a movie, I'm a bit sad to say, it would probably be a romantic comedy. Now, that doesn't mean that it would be terribly girly. There'd be at least a few good action scenes, possibly a thrilling car chase, and perhaps a bit of gratuitous nudity... The silver lining in all of this is that I'm pretty much through all of the weird intro stuff that makes up most of the juicy plot bits of the movie. I've met the crazy bar people. I've been on the psycho internet dates. The hilarity has justifiably ensued. At this point in the film, it seems like it's about time for me to meet someone cool. So anyway, here's a little bit about me: I'm originally from Texas, but lack that "sweet" southern drawl. I'm a pretty happy person by nature, and I'm very active. I like to smile. I have a really neat kayak that regularly takes me to the center of the lake I live by on clear nights. I'm always open to new ideas, and I think that what makes anything fun is having someone else to share it with. Success is great, but not at the expense of fun and happiness. I would like to think I've found a good balance between the two... I am a very laid back person, and just don't see the point of making a big deal out of the little things. I think everything can be resolved without yelling, but there's certainly something to be said for making up after a fight. I'm not the jealous type. I expect people to have other friends. I would like to think I'm a good judge of character, and easily trust people I care about. I go to a lot of effort to recycle. I have the hardest time trying to keep a straight face and not smile when I'm attempting to play a joke on someone. I care about quality in the things that I buy. I enjoy shopping for clothes with the right person. My family is very important to me. I don't know what I would do without them. I'm looking for someone genuinely kind, caring, intelligent, and with a fiery spirit. It is important for me to be with someone who is active and enjoys being outside.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm an engineer, but don't judge me on that alone... I love being outside, hitting the gym, and heading out and about with my friends. If it's fun, I'm up for it! I'll try anything once.

I’m really good at

Holding up my end of a conversation, solving problems, kayaking, cooking, rollerblading, and sleeping. Definitely sleeping. I'm sure there are other things, too, but I don't want to sound too full of myself... :)

The first things people usually notice about me

My sense of humor and laid-back attitude. I've been told I have nice eyes, too (but I think she was just trying to get into my pants... :)).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I really like John Sanford's and Dean Koontz's books, but anything that keeps me on the edge of my seat will do. Some science fiction or fantasy is okay.

I like interesting movies. I can't stand action for action's sake. There has to be a plot. The Fifth Element is one of my favorites because it is so wild and artsy. Same with 300. The last movie that I saw that really made an impression on me was "A Good Year." It's kind of an art flick, too, with Russel Crowe in it. He's some hotshot stock trader in London and inherits his uncle's vineyard in France and basically learns to slow down and enjoy the simple things. Yes, it sounds trite, but it was really a very well written movie.

As far as TV, I watch a lot of Simpsons, Family Guy, and Futurama. Nature documentaries are also high on my list. I used to follow Nip/Tuck, but it has gotten a bit too silly of late. I can barely manage to pay attention to it anymore. Oh yeah, I record and watch The Soup on E! on a weekly basis.

Nine Inch Nails is a favorite, but I love me some Cake, too. I do tend to like a lot of the harder music, but I can sing along to any oldies song you can come up with. Really I like all kinds of music. Well, okay, about the only country song I can bear to listen to is "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy." Don't ask me who sings it... I don't do much rap either, but I do like Outkast. My radio is usually tuned to FM99 or 96X.

As far as food goes, italian and seafood (including sushi) are my favorites. Sonoma in the Towncenter and Havana in Norfolk are some of my favorite restaurants.

The six things I could never do without

Family - It's pretty nice to have people who you know you can count on for anything.
Hope - A man without hope has nothing to live for.
Good friends - Who else would I hang out with?
My kitchen - I guess I could cook over a camp fire, but my kitchen is so nice and convenient...
Good beer - Sometimes you just need a little help to tolerate your good friends... :)
My left leg - Actually, I'm quite partial to the right one as well...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that he himself couldn't eat it...?
A brown belt with black shoes is okay, right...?

On a typical Friday night I am

Entertaining, out with friends, hanging out watching a movie, hanging in not watching a movie - it all depends...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

That I would never admit to anything in writing... :)
