I am red, yellow, and blue.

My Self-Summary

I am an honest, friendly girl who likes to geek out about food from time to time. I have a great career and am really happy with where I am right now. I can teach you all about beer, and I am willing to pick up whatever you have to share. I like campy horror films, music, and stinky cheese in no particular order. I can swear or tell you that you did a nice job in Spanish. I can swear or order a bottle of wine in French. I can't say much of anything in German, beyond Einsturzende Neubauten.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a wine & spirits director/ sommelier, beer judge, homebrewer, and inspired but sometimes kooky cook. I have a seriously fun job. This is where you ask me about some wacky bottle of wine you had when you were backpacking across Spain. It's ok. I'm used to it.

I’m really good at

Beer, food, and music geekery. Hands down. And I'm not afraid to say that I am really good at it.

The first things people usually notice about me

Oodles and oodles of charm.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books.
Jose Saramago. Haruki Murakami, Herman Hesse, Randy Mosher, Craig Clevenger, Mikhail Bulgakov. Jancis Robinson. Michael Jackson (the beer writer).

Music.
I tend to end up listening to a lot of noisy, space-y rock and roll, but I am all over the place. Let's keep it simple for now and just say a lot.

Movies.
I thought Happiness was hilarious.

Food.
Is business and pleasure for me. I don't know what I'd be doing with myself without the Maillard reaction. I'm a big fan of mustard, vanilla bean, and bacon. Not necessarily together, but I'm sure someone has tried.

The six things I could never do without

1. good book on the train
2. the magic of fermentation
3. the album that makes me want to be cooler than I am
4. tolerance and a little love for all the people I come into contact with daily.
5. all five senses. but smell wins.
6. #6. I am also a 'the prisoner' nerd.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why people care so little about the things they eat and drink. What the first person who ate a lobster was thinking. Why I always get the chatty cab driver/ neighbor on the train when I really want to listen to music.

On a typical Friday night I am

Helping you select a delicious bottle of wine. Your Sunday is my Friday.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not willing to admit anything private here. Random fun fact instead? I went to the national spelling bee in 7th grade and lost on the word 'firkin'. A firkin is a wood barrel used for beer. What are the chances?

You should message me if

You have things going on. You have a career or hobby that makes your face light up when you talk about it.

You have a rock and roll arsenal that will make me page through your records / digital collection / obsessively organized cd collection and say, wow! At least two Krautrock albums=extra credit.

You are genuine, kind to people, honest to a near fault, and intelligent but not overbearing about it.

Or you can make me a really nice poached egg..
