My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
This is no autobiography, but I thought a bullet-point list of random facts would be fun.

- A good thunderstorm can make my day.
- Driving Route 66 is a dream of mine.
- I've been to 13 major league baseball stadiums.
- My favorite beers are Sam Adams and Guinness; but I love craft breweries.
- I still enjoy Legos; although mine are in my parent's attic.
- I dashboard drum... and desktop drum... and dining table drum.
- I often get ketchup on my shirt.
- Each morning I make my bed.
- The teams I support include the White Sox, Illini, Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls.. and now the Nationals.. It's OK to have one AL team and one NL team, right?
- I moved to the area from Chicago in Aug. '12
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a web programmer at a non-partisan non-profit in D.C.

Before that I had a 6-year stint in Journalism, starting as a photographer and eventually heading up digital content at a suburban newspaper chain. Journalism was my college major and it remains a passion of mine.

While my job is a big part of who I am, it by no means defines me. I really want to excel in my field and advance myself; but being a good friend and being there for my family are extremely important to me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Photography, cheering at sports, random trivia, naming the artist of songs, planning social events, getting sucked into a movie I've seen a dozen times.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I asked around; popular opinion went to my smile. I've also been told my eyes, but I don't buy it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

(a) I stopped reading for leisure when I went to college. Give me a good article instead. My Google Reader pulls in about 12 blog feeds and 5 magazines. Although I am making my way through "The Lean Startup" and "Devil in the White City" is on my must-read end table.

(b) Favorites of all time include Indiana Jones ("Last Crusade" is the best), Jurassic Park, Star Wars, James Bond, Independence Day and Twister. Don't judge me by this action-heavy list; I usually try to watch the Oscar-contenders, and Netflix is great.

(c) Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, American Pickers, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother - among many others. Scrubs is one show of which I could watch re-runs forever. I also enjoy TED Talks and listen to several podcasts - which could be considered shows, right?

(d) Again, too much to list. Some of my favorites: Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, Green Day, All-American Rejects, Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Jay Z, Kenny Chesney, Matt Nathanson. I really enjoy country music. Random favorite songs include, in no particular order:
- Eagles - Take it Easy
- CCR - Long As I Can See the Light
- Fuel - Shimmer
- Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
- Jimmy Eat World - Always Be
- Kenny Chesney - Beer in Mexico
Yeah, it's eclectic. That's why I enjoy them! I grew up on Billy Joel and Jimmy Buffett. Their songs will always mean something to me.

New favorite: Chvrches.

(e) Pizza, hot dogs, mac and cheese, steaks, Italian beef, Mexican, sushi.. I'm hungry now.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- A camera ... Yet if I don't have a computer or a darkroom, how will I edit the photos?
- (This spot once said "my car," but I recently sold it; a side effect of living in a city. I mourn it.)
- Hot dogs and/or deep dish pizza and/or Italian beef ... Oh, Chicago food, how I miss you.
- Saturdays
- My little sister ... It's easy to say "family and friends" but my sister and I are very close, so I really mean this.
- A baseball/football ... When bored, catch is always entertaining.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Usually planning ahead.

The Zombiepocalypse is a fun one to think about.. although now that I live in a city, it's worrisome.

I'm also working on a startup. So I spend free time working on that and thinking of improvements.

Also whether or not to use the Oxford comma. I just cannot decide if it has my support.

Should I get a dog?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Sometimes happy hours; sometimes dinner; sometimes preparing for a fun Saturday; sometimes staying inside.

Moral of the story is that there is no typical Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was president of my fraternity chapter in college. Seven years later that seems very lame.
