I am secretly silly, easily amused, and made of awesome.
My Self-Summary
Hi there. I'm Kim. For those of you that have stumbled upon my
profile before, I'm still trying to figure out teleportation. Once
again, no luck. If you've got any tips, feel free to share.
I'm well aware that this is a dating website but mostly just here
to meet new and interesting people. I'm definitely open to dating,
but only if I think you're really awesome and you can handle my
current situation, at least while we're getting to know each other.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I believe
communication is especially important in all kinds of
relationships, including friendship. Please keep in mind that
I'd much rather get to know
who you are before any talk of
dating.
I really, really like dancing!
Swing dancing (
lindy, jitterbug, and other),
blues, and
contra dancing are
usually where you can find me partner dancing. Otherwise, I'm
probably flailing around my room like a dork to whatever's on
Pandora.
I also like to play games of different kinds. Video games, board
games, trivia (though I'm not very good at it), and whatever else.
I just got
Arkham Horror, and I'd really like
to play it. If you're game (pun lightly intended?), please send me
a message! Also, if you play
D&D and have room for a beginner
in your game (in Tampa), I'm definitely interested.
I'm a
secular
humanist and soft
atheist. If you aren't, that's all right
with me.
Tolerance is a beautiful thing. I'm
also a fan of
pastafarianism and Church of the
Subgenius. Silly things are fun! I'm also a regular of
Santarchy.
Also, since I'm not sure where else to put this, I have an awesome
roommate,
veggiedelight and two awesome
neighbors, one of which is also on OkC (
w_is_for_wise).
Sometimes I take a while to get back to people on OkCupid. If you
have AIM and want to talk, send me a message with your screen name,
and I'll try to get ahold of you there! :)

What I’m doing with my life
Setting the world record for jumping in place. (Since some of you
couldn't tell that I'm joking.... no, I'm really not.)
Immediate goal: finish this
Statistics degree from USF. If all
goes well, I graduate in May.
Likely next step: become an actuary.
Things on the "to do" list:
- travel
- volunteer
- make an impact on humanity
I’m really good at
Poking
things. Keeping a straight face while I'm joking. Board games.
Cooking.
"Wearing crazy hats." -
clauderainsrm says, but I'm pretty
sure he's fibbing.
"Kind, patient composure. Also, pianofying." --
fireeyedblamp
"Dying...hair dyeing!" --
veggiedelight
"Mooping" --
radicaldreamr (not to be confused with
moping or mopping, which are quite different)

The first things people usually notice about me
I'm probably not dead. (Unless I am, in which case they notice that
I'm a damn fine corpse.)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Reading material: textbooks, stuff on teh intertubes, graphic
novels, Carl Hiaasen, Neil Gaiman, Stephen Fry, McSweeney's, Dave
Eggers, magazines, webcomics... anything well-written, even if it's
about something that would seem pretty dull.
Movies: The Usual Suspects, Wes Anderson flicks, Miyazaki, Singin'
in the Rain, The Lion King, Pulp Fiction (and some other Tarantino
stuff), Shaun of the Dead, Persepolis, Black Sheep (baaa-haha), The
(Old) Manchurian Candidate, Dr. Strangelove (etc) and probably
other stuff that's not coming to mind.
Music: They Might Be
Giants, Tom Waits, Ben Folds (Five), John Rutter and the Cambridge
Singers, Neko Case, The Mountain Goats, The Decemberists (and
Tarkio), Belle and Sebastian, Beirut, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee,
Spoon, Stars, The Shins, Anúna...
oldies, indie pop,
bluegrass, older punkish stuff,
experimental stuff...
anything good, really...
Food: I love lots of different kinds of food, but I mostly prefer
to eat at home. However, I'm always game for Ethiopian food, Korean
food, or good Mediterranean cuisine.
Other Notables: Katamari Damacy, God of War, How It's Made, Kitchen
Nightmares, Tony Hawk games, Portal, No Reservations, Law &
Order (guilty pleasure), House, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog,
Brotherhood 2.0, Questionable Content, XKCD, Perry Bible
Fellowship, Dr. Steel, Sesame Street
The six things I could never do without
I'm changing this question, because the answers are pretty obvious
for most people. So, six things that I tend to notice:
1) the constellation Orion
2) the sound of a Honda engine starting up (hybrids excluded)
3) burning smells
4) I-IV-V songs
5) bad grammar and spelling
6) any time either Billy Joel or Vivaldi's "Spring" is playing as
muzak
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything!
Lately:
traveling (because I have MASSIVE amounts of wanderlust)
statistics
life
dancing
goals and how to accomplish them
On a typical Friday night I am
...alive and well, and usually don't have any regularly-scheduled
activity. Unless I have to work, Fridays are fairly unpredictable.
Studying is always a possibility.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
As a child, I was absolutely terrified of balloons, because I
didn't like it when they popped. Once, on my sister's birthday, my
dad chased me around the house with two balloons up under his shirt
like a pair of boobs, and I hid in a closet for hours.
It's much funnier now than it was at the time. :) I still don't
like the sound of balloons popping, but it's not enough to induce
me into a closet-hiding state of high-pitched, shrieky panic.
You should message me if
You're happy and you know it. Oh, and you want to do fun and/or
interesting things. Lately, I've been staying in more, due to
necessity, but I'm still up for hanging out sometimes.
Interesting things (to me) include, but definitely aren't limited
to: people who like to smile, crafty tendencies, movie nights,
wandering around, baking/cooking, skee-ball (now called "ice ball"
many places, though it's inferior to its predecessor), museums,
shows, board games, swimming, leisurely bike rides, goofing around
and treasure hunting in thrift stores and flea markets, music,
reading, going to various carnivals and festivals, taking day
trips, taking longer-than-a-day trips, video games, dancing (of the
non-booty variety), parks, animals (of the non-spider variety),
quirks, flavors, train rides, sculptures, boardwalks, foreign
cultures, cheesy attractions, gardens, details and how they relate
to a bigger picture, and delightfully genuine, imperfect, nice
people.
