....okay, that whole first paragraph seemed to make no impression whatsoever on a lot of you, so let me put it in caps and small words: I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A ROMANTIC OR SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP. And it's guys like the ones who can't read my very clearly written profile who make me all the more committed to my stance of platonic relationships only. I'm here to make friends. If you want to be my friend, go ahead and message me. If you think that you can talk to me for a little while and I'll suddenly want to fuck you, please don't even bother.
I realize that this may come off as bitchy, but if you had to deal with as many poorly spelled come-ons as I do, you'd be bitchy too. I promise I'm actually a very nice person, I just have zero patience at all for people who seem to have zero reading comprehension skills and very poor communication skills.
I'm a fairly normal kind of girl, if by fairly normal anyone could mean "pansexual, bipolar, moderately ambitious, internet-addicted, music-loving movie-watching snarky sarcastic hopeless romantic bookworm". But this is the internet, so that basically is normal, isn't it?
I nitpick and write pretty decent poetry and mediocre short stories. I love Sappho, Jim Butcher, Douglas Adams, Catullus, Chuck Palahniuk, T. S. Eliot, Neil Gaiman, Allen Ginsberg and Diane Duane.
I spend a lot of time daydreaming. A lot. No, more than that.
I have ten tattoos: the VFD eye on my left ankle, irises on my right ankle, a rat on my left collarbone, a lizard on my right collarbone, a semicolon behind my right ear, (...) behind my left ear, a Starfleet science insignia on my left wrist, an owl on my right wrist, the Albany skyline and "I swear I'd burn this city down to show you the light" on my left hip, and "let there exist for us not one single further sorrow" on my right hip. I'm currently saving up for a bluejay wing on my back.
I can't go anywhere without my Droid, a notebook and pencil, and a book to read. You never know when inspiration will strike... or boredom.
I am an INFP, an "Idealist" type, but when I took the actual Meyers-Briggs test, I came out 52% introvert and 48% extrovert, so it really depends on how I feel on any given day.
I am opinionated and loud about it, compassionate and evangelical about it, and optimistic and clinging to that by my fingernails sometimes.
I'm also really good at getting way too caught up in fictional people's lives, whether I'm pretending to be those people in an RPG or writing fiction about them or just having ridiculous quantities of feelings about them.
(comics) Watchmen, Y: The Last Man, Enigma, Transmetropolitan, Ex Machina
(movies) All of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the rebooted X-Men movies, everything by Wes Anderson, The Princess Bride, Charlie Bartlett, Inglourious Basterds, Sherlock Holmes, The Fall, Star Trek (2, 3, 4, and the reboots), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Moulin Rouge, Reservoir Dogs, Fight Club, The Big Lebowski, The Usual Suspects, Little Miss Sunshine, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Casablanca, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Thumbsucker, Boondock Saints, Secretary ... I love movies. I like movies about drug users and criminals, dysfunctional people, and superheroes.
Fandoms of my past: Almost Human, Venture Bros., Sherlock, True Blood, Chuck, The Big Bang Theory, Fringe, White Collar, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Supernatural, Heroes, Glee, The Dresden Files, Torchwood, Firefly, and Stargate Atlantis. The old Granada Sherlock Homes series with Jeremy Brett basically rocks my socks off.
(music) look for user speccygeekgrrl at last.fm. that's me, and that's what I listen to and love. If you want a short list: The Mountain Goats, Fall Out Boy, Florence and the Machine, Regina Spektor, Ani DiFranco, Elliot Smith, The Postal Service, Vienna Teng, Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, Of Monsters and Men, Neutral Milk Hotel, Andrew Bird, The Decemberists, Metric, Andrew McMahon, The National, Vampire Weekend, Mumford and Sons, The Weakerthans...
I used to do college radio, and I still love putting together playlists. You can find a lot of playlists about as long as my old radio show, just without me talking, at http://8tracks.com/speccygeekgrrl
(games) I'm a huge fan of the FATE system for roleplaying games.
I started with Spirit of the Century and I'm currently involved in
a huge, long, involved campaign of the Dresden Files RPG that I'm
kind of obsessed with. I also like the World of Darkness system,
although the only game I've played is Changeling. I've also played
a few campaigns of Little Fears. I don't play video games pretty
much at all except for Katamari Damacy and Trauma Center. I love
board games, especially Scrabble, but I'm a force to be reckoned
with when Settlers of Catan comes out, and I'm pretty good at Risk.
(Do not ask me to play Monopoly. I fucking hate Monopoly.)
(foods) I am a big, big fan of kale soup and warm Portuguese rolls with butter. Heritage food, represent! I also love lasagna, pasta salad, chocolate in all incarnations, chicken marsala with rice pilaf... my mother is a wonderful cook and I'll shoot anyone who says otherwise. I have a love affair with Indian food. Chicken tikka masala and veggie samosas are like crack to me. I also looooove fruit-- clementines, pomegranates, Fuji apples, green grapes, all sorts of berries...
2) my computer or my phone with headphones so I can listen to music
3) real paper books, because e-reading just isn't as good as holding an actual book in my hands, and at least one blank book and a pen because writing is not an optional activity for me
4) a steady supply of the substances I need to function (mostly caffeine and medication)
5) someone to talk to (my cat counts)
6) pillows. lots of pillows. I tend to nest.
I also worry a lot, but I'm slowly learning to chill out about that. Every now and then I'll just get hit with a wave of bad thoughts about things I can't control-- like global warming, or the reversal of the magnetic poles, or nuclear disasters, or war-- and it usually takes me a while to calm down and think about something else. It's the absolute worst when this happens when I'm trying to fall asleep.
