My Self-Summary
Hi guys and girls, I’m Kat and I’m 23!
I am profoundly Deaf and use Auslan to communicate. “Wait, what’s Auslan?” some of you may be thinking. Auslan stands for Australian Sign Language, the language most commonly used in Australia by Deaf people. I can lip-read to an extent but prefer to use Auslan.
I value intelligence and honesty in the people around me. :)
Onto how I see myself, I see myself as Kat. A slightly *unusual* girl that appears normal, I talk excessively- one of my friends once said that I could talk underwater with rocks in my mouth, not quite sure how that works for a Deaf person but you get the idea. I am also very opinionated and outspoken. I usually say what I think when I want and even sometimes BEFORE I think it!

What I’m doing with my life
I work fulltime as a Community Worker for a not-for-profit
organisation and absolutely love my job. I am in my final year
studying my Bachelor of Community Welfare (International Social
Development), I have completed all my theory units- just waiting on
prac before I can graduate.. :)
I keep myself quite busy but when I’m not rushed off my feet I enjoy reading, socialising, being around my friends, meeting new people, seeing movies, travelling and most importantly, SLEEPING!

The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How screwed up society can be. The racism, the sexism, the
discrimination against others, pure stupidity and people that just
don't value what they have. Take developing countries for example,
people there have next to nothing, in Australia- we are lucky
enough to have food, water, shelter and clothes yet we still
complain that we lack. Sure our lives may not be spectular but it's
got to be better then starving in a third world country.
On a typical Friday night I am
It varies week to week. Some weeks, I'm out with friends...some
weeks, I'm chilling out at home with a DVD or two, unwinding from
the week. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm a fairly open book so whatever you want to know (within an
extent- I DID say 'fairly') ASK!! :)
