My self-summary

(omg I haven't updated this in ages. consider this under construction? )

I dunno how to get the option for a queer orientation to show up on here but that's closer to what I identify as.

I'm currently working in a small town in PA and am starved of poc and queer people irl so feel free to message even if you live far away. I'll be honest, I'm mostly looking for interesting new people to talk to, but wouldn't be averse to something more growing out of that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I was at a Liberal arts college in Ohio for Psychology(I feel weird naming the college because it is so tiny?). I transferred there from UF and I really really was amazed at how much more I enjoyed it but I am taking some time off for a bit and working because the prospect of student loan debt makes me like, dysfunctionally anxious.

I'd say the biggest thing that drives me right now is hearing out as many people's personal narratives as I can, and using that to be as much of a positive addition to the world as I can?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing "poetry", but I prefer Stephen Crane's idea to just call them lines. Abstractions. Synthesizing information about people.

Cleaning up to an obsessive amount one day, then trashing everything for a month. (It's only fun to clean things when you can actually see a difference.)

Connecting paradoxical things.

Staying quiet when it's not my thing to speak on. Absorbing stuff. I try to think before I speak, but I also appreciate when other people just say what's on their mind.

Counseling psychology was one of my favorite classes and I like knowing people's stories.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I dunno! People smile at me a lot. I dunno if that means I look sad or I make them laugh. Either way, I'm glad they're happy! I like to be happy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. Works by Neil Gaiman. Poems by Stephen Crane, ee cummings, and Pablo Neruda. Essays by George Orwell and Ray Bradbury. Douglas Adams, obviously. Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also just really like to read webcomics. Especially Dinosaur Comics and Ryan North's whole posse. I also enjoy Surviving the World. Non-fiction like The Black Count, and travel lit like blue highways.

Cold Russian Novels are my mental aesthetic.

I am pretty sure The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay is the Great American Novel everyone's been looking for.

Update: I got kind of bored with books for a while. Junot Diaz and Haruki Murakami got me excited again.

I really really like comics. I like comics like hawkeye likes arrows.

Movies: I'm gonna miss important ones but what comes to mind: The Fall, CA:TWS, Indiana Jones, Tambien La Lluvia, White Frog, every Guillermo del Toro film, English Vinglish, Amelie.

Music: MGMT. M83. Arcade Fire. Frank Ocean. Yeasayer. Vampire Weekend/Discovery. Kanye West+Jay Z(I like them best together). The soundtrack to Vanilla Sky and Hannah. Carefree girly pop and punk. Chvrches, Santogold, MIA.

Update: Janelle Monae is my favorite person. I've gotten stupid into that Hozier song.

Food: Tasty things! I'm vegetarian. Despite this, I really reaaaaally hate bunny food. I do not like "salads" esp. ones that solely consist of a limp piece of lettuce and maybe some cheese. I am not a rabbit.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
People, dear god. When I was a child I thought the best thing would be to be a hermit, to escape to a mountain and let it engulf me, like in Perfume. Since that's impossible, I've realized the thing that makes living in the world worth it is people, people and their stories and their histories and their hearts (even though people also bring about the worst parts of stories).

That's only one thing but tbh it's the most important
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
People, and what success is. What I could see myself doing "successfully". People in relation to the search for equilibrium in nature. Interactions. How many things I wish I still knew. Identity and stuff.

you feel like chatting. I think my favorite pastime is nearly magical spontaneous conversations with complete strangers.

Note: Please say more than just Hi - I don't know how to carry a conversation past just that? If you're a jerk, you're just getting blocked.

Note 2: I am not on here 24/7. I might not reply right away, but I will reply at some point!
