I am like you, beautiful, and free.

My Self-Summary

Something I have noticed about online meeting places is a tendency to treat it like a shopping experience - if you don't like something you just put it down.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, or maybe I'd just rather that it were less like shopping at target and more like, for example, the pet shop, viz. "Oh, dear, you are so sweet and I wish I could but of course one can't take all the beautiful beings here home and deciding what's best is so impossibly difficult as to bely it's meaning...."

So many little golden threads connect us all, you never know which one is the real road to Yoga so maybe it's worthwhile imagining that even the finest of those threads is a connection to divinity.

What it means to tell you I am down to earth:

* Down - I'm pretty game. Meeting someone new has a lot to do with finding out more about you, about life, gaining new insight and ideas and trying some things that I haven't tried yet.

* Earth - it's not just a television show anymore. Living in the city I try to collect as many ways to remember that connection as possible.

I am a morning person and love to get up and go, or rise and get to work. I don't dread Mondays or any days (well, deadlines can be tough), and do a lot of work to keep breathing normally, stressing less, and smiling more.

I enjoy art and words, poetry and music. I am an amateur on the guitar but I love to play and sing, and have been getting better at harmonizing with people.

Communication, ruthless self-inquiry, discovery, yogas, humor, bicycles, building and fixing, gardening, baking, these are a few of my favorite things.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm working on a masters degree in Chinese Medicine, practicing hands-on healing arts acupressure, tui na (chinese massage), and trying to understand what reiki is all about.

I've also been repeating a mantra, working on a computer program that will help students in their quest to learn traditional chinese medicine, working in my garden, and looking for opportunities to help non-profit companies with their computing problems.

I’m really good at

Climbing trees. Sitting still and closing my eyes.
Engineering / Building / Fixing things. Communication.
Massage.

The first things people usually notice about me

I can laugh, I can listen, I dance foolishly but fearlessly.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Lots of books on qigong, healing, and chinese medicine. 100 Years of Solitude, East of Eden, Franny and Zooey, and certain kids books. Shameless Potter fan. Shameless.
I also enjoy reading the classics of spiritual life: Hafiz, Buddhism, Chuang Ze, things like this come to mind.

Food: Burritos. Vegetables. Cookies. Chips and salsa.
I'm actually a pretty decent cook for a boy, and can bake a mean whole wheat bread. I grow my salad. I love taquerias. And as much as I want to tell you I'm 100% locavore or whatever they're calling it these days, I love thai, indian, ethiopian, pizza,

Movies: Some combination of drama and dude movies. I could watch Benny and Joon for the 5th time, or also rent Batman again. Or I could contrast My Friend Totoro versus Star Wars. Or I could mention that I have all six Potter movies on my computer. I'm open. I love good movies of all kinds, and especially like them when I'm with someone I like.

Music:
- Old Time: Miss. John Hurt, Woody Guthrie...
- Contemporary: Beck, Flaming Lips, Radiohead
- Classic and Folk rock
- Classical, groovy hip hop, psychedelic, devotional, whatever's got feeling.

The six things I could never do without

Could _never_ do without?

brain, lungs, heart, liver, spleen and kidneys.

Oh, you don't mean it like _that_. Okay:
Air, water, vegetables, what? you don't mean that either?

How about:
spooning, being fed dark chocolate, reading poetry to a new friend, pristine mountain lakes, all the great poets and prophets, and, uhm, dinosaurs.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

*Global social, environmental and spiritual renaissance, and how I can be a part of it right now and in the future
*How to play that one song on my guitar
*How some machine works, or why it doesn't work
*How to get my iThingy to do more stuff
*Greywater this, water catchment that
*Chinese Medicine
*A common thought is to imagine, picture, and invite inspiration regarding how to start or join a community-oriented organization focused on helping people learn and gain access to nutrition information, natural foods, herbal medicine, alternative medicine, local gardens, ways to spare water, electricity, energy, money. Ways to continue eating well and living happily as a community, even if there are no jobs.

On a typical Friday night I am

Lately it's been another chance to study. I can go out on the town now and again, or cook a great dinner with friends, or have a meal out, go and see some cultural event, go sit in the hot tub, catch a yoga class to unwind from the week, or watch the sun set from between the pines somewhere.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I prefer peeing in the woods over doing it into the toilet.
