I am tall, dark, and random.

My Self-Summary

drummer/percussionist/writer/editor/poet/brother/uncle/son/homey.

from pennsylvania (pittsburgh + philadelphia). in california (LA & SF).

i make music, buy music, write about music, can't stop thinking about music.

i’m an anti-pack rat. having stuff is annoying. just gimme a suitcase & a plane ticket!

one time, i sailed around the world in 100 days.

i think blog is the worst word ever invented in the english language.

i have a lil' crush on michelle obama.

lowercase rules. capitalization for professional purposes only.

What I’m doing with my life

maintaining a double life in the music biz:
playing drums to express my art (& maintain my sanity), while writing/editing/publicizing for other artists/companies to pay the bills.

I’m really good at

making music
writing words
finding a balance
being diplomatic
keeping my mouth shut
making mixtapes/CDs/mp3 mixes that are so good people get mad at me
making trashy collages out of cut-up magazines, markers and glue

The first things people usually notice about me

"did you get taller?"

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books: william s. burroughs, salman rushdie, naguib mahfouz, jazz musician biographies, "the second world" by parag khanna, ernest hemingway, flannery o'connor, haruki murakami, richard brautigan, robert walser, e.e. cummings.

movies: japanese horror movies, weird art films, absurd comedies, random foreign stuff, star wars, fellini, stanley kubrick, monty python.

music: thelonious monk, t. rex, de la soul, dancehall reggae, john coltrane, queens of the stone age, duke ellington, lots of brazilian music, outkast, the roots, led zeppelin, sly & the family stone, curtis mayfield, sonny rollins, MIA, billie holiday, yeah yeah yeahs, blk jks, tv on the radio, radiohead, old delta blues, the smiths, massive attack, bjork, mos def, max roach, etc. etc. (i could go on for days...)

food: sour cream & mayonnaise are gross. but i’ll eat anything else.
(i ate a fried scorpion once.)

The six things I could never do without

family & friends
drums
stereo
quality meals
nice pants
love and/or lust

I spend a lot of time thinking about

- how i’d like to live in a foreign country, at least for a little while.

- hybrids (that goes for music, cars, girls, vegetables, etc.)

- why being pretentious is a good thing, as long as you can back it up.

- the fact that i think too much.

On a typical Friday night I am

recovering from the week, preparing for the weekend, spinning records, turning up the volume, having a beverage or 3, eating something good, checking out some bands, playing in some bands, doing laundry, watching a movie, telling jokes, acting like a joke, or staring straight up at the sky. typically speaking.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i worship the devil.

You should message me if

you are a lady who can dig some art & culture, have a healthy sense of humor, are well-traveled (or want to be) & don't mind shaking yr booty when the right song comes on.

and if you speak portuguese, muito bem!
