My self-summary Propose an edit

First and foremost, hello, I'm Kourtnie. My AIM is Spriksie, although you should tell me who you are when you IM me (your username, name, whatever), even if we've talked before, just because I can be extremely forgetful.

So, on to my interests. Because, well, I know there's other people locally that have these interests, and I'd like to meet them.

I enjoy video games, especially World of Warcraft and my precious Nintendo systems. :) I also love other kinds of games like Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, board games, puzzle games, and pretty much anything that stimulates creativity and intelligence among friends. My personal collections / obsessions are with penguins, Yoshi, and snow globes.

I am an animal lover, with parrots and cats of my own. Anyone who doesn't love animals would find me less than admirable.

I also enjoy anime, and if you don't know what that is, I hope you're open minded to learn -- since I only really enjoy watching it with other people! I draw in a similar style as well on a regular basis. (I have a deviant art under the same username if you're one of those people that likes to see random, unprofessional artwork). Yuu Watase is my favorite manga artist, and my favorite anime is Mysterious Play, followed by Record of Lodoss War. I'm also a fan of Satoshi Urushihara, and yes, I'm aware his art contains adult content.

Lastly, I enjoy writing, especially poetry and fantasy stories. I would like to be published someday, but given it's a hobby without any creative writing classes to back it up, that's a distant dream.

As for physical activities, I like swimming and walking around places. I'm not much for sports, nor am I much for men that are obsessed with sports. Playing them is fine, breathing and eating them is not.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm studying as an English major as of this semester! I have about two years of college left. I used to study as a psychology major, and while I love understanding people better and I'm a good listener to friends at times, I felt my true passion was in the English language and writing. Being farther behind in college than other 21-year-olds because of my major switch it okay with me though, because it's not all about the degree, and I definately learned a lot from my psychology classes. :)

I'm really good at Propose an edit

All the things I like to do, I'm good at. Well, except swimming. And walking, lol. Human beings generally adapt hobbies that center around their talents or developed skills, just because this is how we supposedly reinforce our ego. A friend told me that once, even though I think I overheard it in my psychology classes a few times.

I'm also really good at being shy. You might find me frustrating at first when you communicate with me. I am randomly open, then randomly closed. But that's better than being boring, is it not? :)

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I'm short! lol. (Five foot.) My eyes are another thing -- I'm Caucasian, but I have the smallest eyes you'll ever see on a Caucasian's face. People also make note of the unique way I spell my name and the way I "hold my pen/pencil."

Oh, and I look like I'm twelve years old. Haha... ahhh.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: Ella Enchanted (children's book), Guardians of the Flame series (Joel Rosenberg), Much Ado About Nothing (Shakespeare). Another person's profile also reminded me of the passion I had for The Plague (Albert Camus), which I read frequently in high school. I also love Dante's Purgatorio. (I know, everyone likes the Inferno, but the real lessons are found between the lands of good and evil, I promise.)

Movies: Much Ado About Nothing (directed by Kenneth Branagh), American Beauty, Ever After, March of the Penguins.

Music: Nightwish, alternative and pop, J-pop to a limited extent (more the music you find in anime than the "real J-pop.")

Foods: CHEEEEEESE. And, umm, Mexican and Italian are good too. :) And ICE CREAM.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

1. Pencil, pen and paper. (If I can't express the creativity constantly fluttering through my head, I have this worry that it'll just explode. You know, like the alien explodes in American Dad.)

2. Physical contact. (No, I don't mean sex. Okay, I will openly admit I like sex. But being able to hug a friend is extremely important. Did you know that tribes used to forbid people to touch a person in the tribe as a method of punishment?)

3. Games. (As I get older, these are becoming less of a means to hermitize myself and more of a means of spending time with friends.)

4. Sleep. (If you have a problem with me sleeping eight hours a day, I'll beat you over the head with my alarm clock. Although, honestly, I don't get eight hours a day these days.)

5. The opposite sex. (Don't lie. You know it's important to you too.)

6. Animals. (Seen the movie Must Love Dogs? Hehe.)

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

The definition of life and love (pops up in all my writing and artwork), and what to do about life and love. Oh, and why House is so funny and yet such a prick.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

That's completely random. I could stay at home and play World of Warcraft all night, or I could go out, or I could write and draw, or anything in between. I don't force myself to do something Friday nights. I can do things any night, really (well, except when school or work conflicts.)

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I had another comment here at one point, but it attracted a different crowd than what I'd prefer.

So, I'll just say that I sing at the top of my lungs in the car during rush hour traffic.

You should message me if Propose an edit

You want to talk to me?

You seriously don't have to be interested in a relationship. I mean, if you are, that's great too, but friendship is also an important element in being a human, and I have lots of room for more friends.

In fact, if you're clingy and all you want to do is hang all over me, don't message me. I like to be friends with my boyfriends, not interest partners. Don't get me wrong -- I'm actually a rather physical individual. I enjoy holding hands, human warmth, kissing [minus the mandatory make-out session on every date -- if we kiss more than talk in a any step of a relationship, there's problems], all that fun stuff. I just don't like it on date one or two.

The internet is a communication tool. Get over this idea that meeting people online is bad if you haven't already, and message me! (Someone made a comment that this sounds like an internet stalker. I didn't know such a thing existed. I promise, I'd prefer to stay home than stalk your house.)

/end rant. :D Yay!
