My self-summary
I'm from DC, but also San Diego, Dublin and New York...moved to Ann Arbor for a PhD program. I used to be a National Team athlete, so I'm still learning how to sit and read for hours on end. Besides my studies and sports, I try to have fun and not take life too seriously.
I also don't excel at trying to write about myself, so don't judge too harshly....
What I’m doing with my life
Currently I am studying for a PhD in literature, which is of course very useful for learning world domination. I'm still waiting on that last part...
Eventually I will hopefully move on to dissertating and uncover some long buried unknown text by Lydgate, become a famous scholar who can charge massive amounts of money to speak at conferences, and teach thoroughly unappreciative undergrads about the birth of courtly literature....
or maybe not
My mum is an old school Brit (seriously! Born in some thatched roof cottage in Tittington) and at some point I would like to move back to the Isle. No plans as of yet.
I also teach some spin and cardio classes at a gym in town, which is pretty brilliant....considering its an indoor workout! :)
I’m really good at
being sarcastic…and having almost no verbal filter (working on that). finding the silver-lining in almost anything
The first things people usually notice about me
They usually don't say? probably being addicted to working out
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Of course Chaucer is amazing, but I also like reading pretty much any literature: Tennyson, Ken Follett, Richard Dawkins is also brilliant.
When I have the chance, I try and catch up on movies/TV... Star Trek, Monarchy (BBC is amazing) Gladiator are up there. Sherlock is a newfound obsession.
I listen to almost anything....a lot of Euro-techno while running or whatever happens to pop up on Pandora. I still listen to some Irish fiddle now and again. If you haven't heard the High Kings "rocky road to Dublin" you need to!
The six things I could never do without
kayaking (and my boat)
workouts of any kind
friends/family
traveling
coffee!
All the other things I take for granted and probably forgotten about...
On a typical Friday night I am
I am either watching a movie or grabbing drinks with friends, attempting to commandeer other people's puppies, or trying to fit in a workout.
