My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a farmer. I have lived many places and tried out many different careers but decided recently to move back to Virginia and spend my days in the sun (or frequently rain). It's an odd choice I know, but I love it and it suits my somewhat contrarian nature. I love being my own boss and getting to look at the mountains everyday. I miss the city and the culture of the West Coast - San Francisco was my last urban home. But, I'm happy these days and generally love my new life. My social scene, however, could use some help - hence my presence here... The lettuce is great and all, but it's lacking in the intellectual conversation department.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working hard and keeping my eyes open. Trying to stay positive and focus on solutions.

Someone I admire deeply gave me two quotes recently that have been guiding my work:

"Don't mistake a clear view for a short distance."

"To be truly radical is to make hope possible rather than dispair convincing."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Running down hill.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am tall -- kind of. Some people find me intimidating, but I usually try to make people smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I can't pick a favorite book, but I'll speak to a few great authors: James Salter is a recent favorite. I am a true Tolstoy fan -- a sucker for most of the Russians. Marquez is a gem. Walker Percy is on my bedside table now. Tony Morrison was my first literary love. Salman Rushdie blew my mind with Satanic Verses. Hafiz poems make me smile. Rilke stole my heart.

I grew up on a farm without TV so most of popculture is lost on me (sorry!).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The tension between an inspiring vision and tilting at windmills.

Also how weird we humans are... I mean seriously, really weird.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Washing vegetables in preparation for market on Saturdays... but I do get out and about on the occasional Saturday night and love catching a beer with friends to remember there is life off the farm.
