I'm a single white male, 6"2 - 240 lbs, with blue eyes, Brown hair who is considered both a deep and out of the box person. I am told by friends that I am a fun guy, and as such, I'm looking for a fun lady to compliment my life - not just as close friends, but as two people who are building something - a quality something. I am open, honest and communicative, complex, funny, mysterious, interesting, intense, artistic, unique and special (thanks for that one, mom). In fact, I have a friend who describes me as an onion - remove one layer, and there is something deeper underneath to find (and no, I don't smell like an onion - or at least i HOPE I don't). I have a great sense of humor (hell, just look at me), and am proud (and secure enough) to not only take a joke at my expense, but to also be able to return the repartee. Personally, I am fine alone, with a partner or in a group. I love games (all kinds), reading, movies, music and just about anything that keeps my mind active and sharp - in fact I am the curious type - always reading or doing something - and hopefully its fun and educational. I love baseball and have had season tickets to the A's for 29 years and crazy as it may seem, but I believe i have been to over 1,000 games in my life. On a closer to home note, after being away from my home town for 35 years, I have recently moved back from Sacramento to San Mateo to help take care of my 80+ year old mother who is having problems - she is sharp, yet getting fragile (so she needs someone around) ... and out of three kids, I was the one who took up the task (lucky me!). What makes this cool is that I am not only doing the right thing morally, but just as important, I have the opportunity to rediscover San Mateo, build a new life, make some new friends and get reacquainted with the greater bay area again (although I was here often, its different when you come over to this side of the bay and actually live here!)

My belief system encompasses a variety of things - from believing in justice and Bigfoot and space aliens (hey, if god created 'everything' he would not have wasted so much, on just us, right?), the gentle curves of a woman's back and getting government out of my life so i can enjoy it the way Locke, Jefferson and the others write/wrote/believe. I also believe in two important things - communications between partners and that when the two of us are together, we make a 3rd person - "US" and that we need to not only nourish that person, but the two that made that one up.

Hey, I wont' hide it - I was born, raised and believe that I will die Jewish - and this thinking is based on one thought that is very close to my heart - "Tikkun Olam" (repairing the world). No matter what religion, I am personally dedicated to that, and practice that belief daily. Please don't get me wrong, I am far from being a religious fanatic. In my heart, I believe this way because I know that by making a difference, I am making the world a better place for everyone, not just myself. As such, I have done my share of volunteer activities, and thanks to my career, I have an outlet that allows me to make that direct difference in the lives of Californians. Professionally, I am a Lobbyist, and work in legislatures around the country - but I specialize in California - the country (yes country) that makes America run. I have worked in it for about 35 years, and will be altering my practice now that i am located in the bay area and not Sacramento. I am an interesting political blend: "California & Republican" - I am pro choice and support gay marriage (actually I am tired of hearing about it - if gays/lesbians want to get married - LET THEM - I just don't want to hear about it, or be involved - is that wrong?), yet support smaller government that is out of our lives, less taxes, stronger consumer protections, comprehensive solutions to illegal immigration and a stronger economic California! So what does this all mean? Simple, I am a dedicated out of the box thinker who makes it hard for anyone to put a label on.

Over coming my dyslexia (this is a joke, I am not dyslexic), worshiping dog, and tackling those elusive A.D.D. qualities that make me the hit of the party. My thinking and ideas are solid gold and based on the greatest hits of the 60's and 70's. In fact, I am told that I'm also good at implementing those ideas, staging PR events, writing, creating something from nothing, speaking in public, running with scissors, writing novels that never get finished and lobbying - the last bastion of American Capitalism. But what am I proudest of? Three things: I am told that I am a GREAT cook, I work hard on communicating with my 'partner' and I know, understand and show - loyalty - with actions, words and deeds.

Honestly, sometimes I just don't know. I would like to think that its the fact that I walk tall, stand straight and have this magical 'hippie' '60's style. I don't consider myself a caveman or knuckle dragger, and you won't find 'plumbers butt' on me thanks to tailored suits that help even the ugliest of guys looking sharp!. I am told I have beautiful, deep blue eyes, that people can feel my honesty and sensitivity, and that when my hair is combed just right - I look like Danny Partridge (Danny Bonaduce) from the Partridge Family (not how he looks today, but how he looked back then). Although I don't see that personally, the real question becomes this: what would I hope that you notice? What I want you to notice is this: I am a gentle giant - I wear my heart on my sleeve, yet whose actions, aurora and stance commands attention (hey, at 6'2", 245, how could you not?), yet my actions are peaceful, supportive, playful and inquisitive.

I don't often read 'books' per say - rather I run a news service and read articles, stories, reports, legislative stuff, including my share of reports. My favorite shows include: the Big Bang Theory, 2 1/2 men (with Charlie Sheen), Fringe, 60 minutes, the Simpsons and 30 Rock. I have also gotten into Storage Wars - don't ask me why, but I do like yelling at the TV and those idiot characters. As for movies, my top 5 movies are: Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Yellow Submarine, Blazing Saddles, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly and the Blues Brothers (both movies - and yes I do know that is more than 5 movies). Food wise, I love to cook, and enjoy just about everything - its easier for me to list what I won't eat - manudo (blech), pigs knucles, and pickled eggs (uuuggggg). Musically, you won't find someone with a larger rage of tastes - from rock and blues to classical. I love old time, middle time, new age and the like... just depends on the mood that I or 'we' are in. In fact, I am proud to have one computer that is dedicated to simply being my "jukebox", and that computer contains over 250,000 songs! Sometimes, nothing beats the long version of Innagoddadivada, while at other times, some simple Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen works wonders on the soul. Right now, I am listening to ELP play rag time (isn't that a dichotomy). Oh, and by the way - I love the blues - starting with the Blues Brothers and ending with Oscar Peterson.... love the way he tickles those ivories!

I am lucky, I often get "paid to ponder" - in fact, I did want to be a philosopher when I grow/grew up, but found it was a poor career choice (and if you can tell me why its a poor career choice, that brings a special reward).. .... in no special order

It may sound weird, but for me, there really is no "typical Friday night." My activities range from going to synagogue and having Shabbat/Sabbath dinner with friends to going to concerts. Additionally, my Friday night also includes a variety of other fun things - weekend trips, writing, reading (catching up on), concerts, cooking and let's not forget Baseball - America's game! (FYI - baseball is my true religion, they just didn't have a place for it in the over all OK Cupid profile). It also includes, laying in bed, watching TV and eating Chinese food.

Care to take a guess? I do think this profile shows it - I feel that I am too open and honest - most women tell me that they are 'surprised' at how open and communicative I am, especially for a "guy." Guess that's the problem with wearing your heart on your sleeve, huh? In fact, when I made some commitments to myself after my divorce (12 years ago), I made a personal promise to myself (and whomever I am with) that if they are with me, it is my job to communicate - and I work hard at it. I feel deep down in side that I can effectively get things across verbally, but if that doesn't work (for what ever reason), I will use actions, texts, emails, poetry and writings - I would even do smoke signals (if I knew how to do them!). For example, I went out with a deaf woman for a short period of time about 8 years ago, and to be able to communicate with her, I learned sign language (the alphabet)! I know that sounds like going overboard, but it was actually pretty easy, run and she appreciated it. I did it not to win brownie points with her, but I thought it was much friendlier to sign than to write notes and hand them to her all the time. To me, this is one of the most important parts of a relationship - communications - it shows respect, maturity and brings/earns trust. I sincerely hope that this shows you a bit about both my thinking and whats in my heart.
