I like to stroll through the streets and explore, whenever I find time to do that. I also love to ride my bike through Shanghai - it was one of the best decisions ever to get a bicycle here and now I am faster than those annoying Motor-Scooters and healthier.
I have a lot of good Chinese friends and a genuine interest in the place. I'm going with the flow and pretty much know what makes me happy. I love martial arts, I do BJJ with friends in the park and can spend days just doing that. I dislike the club culture here (is there a club culture?) and like to listen to live music, with music it is either super hard (metal/hardcore, dubstep, drum n bass) or super soft (post rock, future garage), not much in between. I like food and beer and music.
The other day I accompanied a friend of mine to a double-date (it was the second time, he told me to join, because apparently the girls feel more comfortable if they come in duets). We should have known better, because the first time the girls bossed my friend around (without saying 'hi') at first and treating him like a waiter and later just were more interested in their phones than in a conversation or fun. The second time was better, because we laughed a lot (I usually do that) and the girls seemed entertained, but there was nothing more - not a single question from them about us - it was all them and how much a thing costs that we wear or have or they want. In general: boring. I have not interest whatsoever in girls like that and we refused to pay the bill for their part - I liked the surprised look (on both occasions) they gave us. But what do you expect, if you have nothing to give.--- Long story short: I find meeting, dating and get to know people is a mutual experience and both sides should win from that. If you come for a free meal or wine or even beer and just to be entertained while giving nothing back - thank you, please date someone else!
