I am happy, friendly, and adventurous.
My Self-Summary
I'm a an idealist and an optimist. I'm opinionated, but open-minded
and listen to others' points of view, so don't be afraid to discuss
controversial subjects with me. I'll take a 50-mile
bike ride over a day at the
spa anytime. I think Gimme! makes the best
coffee on the face of the earth. I would
much rather do something than talk about doing something. Insects
creep me out, but I think spiders are awesome.
What I’m doing with my life
I work with professors and grad students at Cornell. My official
generic job title is Admin Asst, but I think a more accurate
description is "Cat Herder." I enjoy it, but I want to find
something more meaningful to do with my life eventually. I'm still
trying to figure out what exactly that is, and I'm probably going
to wait until my son is a little older before going back to school
to work on a master's or PhD.
In the meantime, my passions are
road biking,
mountain biking, and
cross country
skiing, and I try to convince as many other people as I can
that this is a good way to spend their spare time. That way I have
plenty of other people with whom I can do these things. How about
you? Are you up for it?
I’m really good at
having conversations with people. I have an uncanny ability to get
along well with "difficult" types, and most people feel completely
at ease around me. I'm also pretty good at landscape and nature
photography,
sketching, and
writing.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile and my blue eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Favorite
books:
thrillers,
politics,
romance
Movies: thrillers,
documentaries, romantic comedies,
independent
films
Music: There isn't
much I don't like. If it has a decent melody, and I can sing along
with it, fantastic. My favorite genres tend to be
rock (
Dream Theater,
Pink Floyd,
Ayurveda,
Jack Johnson), but there is a good
bit of classical (
Mozart,
Camille Saint-Saëns),
punk (
Bad
Religion,
Green
Day), and folk (
Five2,
Menage), that I listen to as well.
Food: I love
ethnic foods, with Mexican and Thai
topping the list.
The six things I could never do without
People to love
coffee in the morning (seriously, I can't function w/o it)
My cd collection
Books
My bikes
My skis
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, current events, and their impact on society, what can I
do personally to change situations I'm not keen on, do bats migrate
or hibernate during the winter?, what the heck does "radcliffy"
mean?, why do people spend so much time complaining about things
instead of doing something about it?, planning my next
bike ride; where to go
for the next
vacation (Montreal?); ways to teach my
son personal responsibility and self-sufficiency, and
daydreaming about
random, less important, yet completely amusing things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing laundry? Seriously, it's the best time because no one else is
using the laundry facilities, and then it's done for the week!
Okay, besides that, reading one of the many books I have lined up
on the coffee table waiting to be read, or watching a Netflix
movie, or hanging out with friends if someone's having a
get-together, or less frequently, catching one of the many awesome
live bands in the area!
You should message me if
If you think we have some things in common, and you'd like to get
to know me better.
