My self-summary
"You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." ~ A. A. Milne
This "silly old bear" is certainly trying :-).

I've been very fortunate to travel quite a bit in the last 8 years or so; visiting 9 countries on 3 continents during that time. Still plenty more to see though. I want to visit Japan and New Zealand next, if I have my choice. Though, if given the money to go anywhere it would be hard not to go back to Ireland.

I love to laugh, and I love it when people get the references to movies/TV shows I use :-). If I've seen it chances are I can quote lines from it. Feel free to send me quotes! I love trading quotes back and forth :-).

The most important thing to know about me is that I promise (a word I don't use lightly) that if we get to know each other and click, you will never meet a more sweet, caring, and devoted individual.

"A great and thoughtful guy, who is steady, reliable, and cradles tenderly. Your ideal is someone intimate, intelligent, and very supportive." I think that sums it up quite nicely.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a full time student at American University. I am just about finished up with a joint degree in International Relations, with a focus on US foreign policy in Europe. Summer of 2011 and Fall 2012 I was working in Dublin, Ireland and now I am back in Arlington looking to finish up my degree.
I’m really good at
Writing letters. Lol. That's a silly thing to start with, but it is the truth.

I'm a great listener....often turned to for advice. (If only it would work for myself I'd be all set, lol)

I'm also pretty good at volleyball (despite being only 5'8"). I have an uncle that played in several minor league circuits while I was growing up...those were some great summers :-).

I'm told I'm a very good huger :-).

I take very pretty pictures as well. Especially landscape and naturescape photography. I actually had my photos up on display at various art centers, galleries, and art shows for about three years from 2007-2010. I love the opportunity to show them to people, so feel free to ask about them.

I'm a modest person, but I know what I do well :-) and I'm very happy to discuss those things with anyone interested to know more about me.
The first things people usually notice about me
Is my eyes. I'm told they sometimes slightly change color in different light. Beyond that, it's really my friendly personality that most people pick up on quickly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Mostly fantasy adventure: The Lord of the rings books, Patricia Wrede's enchanted forest chronicles, Narnia series, Brian Jacques Redwall series. There are others, but those books I have read dozens of times.

TV shows: #1 South Park. The others are The Office, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Family Guy, Walking Dead. And some classics like Seinfeld, Law and Order, and Murder She Wrote.

Movies: Princess Bride, Boondock Saints, BASEketball, Team America, Cannibal the Musical, Inception, Dark Knight, Borat, Labyrinth, Short Circuit, The Burbs, Lady in the Water, Sideways, Glory, The Sting, Lost in Translation, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Children of Men, The Rundown, A Bridge too Far, The Great Escape, Anchorman, Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead, Office Space...and so many more, but those are off the top of my head.

Music: Really just about anything. Not much rap or R&B though. My iTunes has a little of everything, but here's a taste of what's on there right now: Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, The Script, Gym Class Heroes, Of Monsters and Men, Linkin Park, and the Killers. Oh, and I love instrumental music. In my opinion the violin is the prettiest sounding instrument, followed by the piano.

Food: I am a fairly picky eater, and also very traditional: meat and potatoes kind of guy. Don't let that scare you though, I am very open to trying new foods at least once. As an example I have eaten "Cuy" in Ecuador. And I've been expanding a little more and more slowly as I begin to cook more.
The six things I could never do without
My camera, my family and my closest friends, my computer, the internet, my cell phone, and board/card games.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
These days my focus is on my career goals, so that occupies my mind most of the time.
I miss Ireland. I've spent 6 months there in the last year and a half and it is my sincere hope that I get to spend more time there in the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out with a few close friends or at home. I'm not much of a club person, and I don't drink, so I'm hardly ever at a bar unless I'm with friends. If I'm out on a Friday, it's with good friends at their house relaxing or playing board games, maybe a trivia night somewhere, or occasionally out at a comedy club.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've got my fair share of embarrassing moments, but they are not being posted here :p lol.
